1.1 Introduction 1. Methodology for measuring packaging dimensions: The accurate and rational dimensional measuring of sales unit packaging (CU, box, pallet, etc.) is a vital prerequisite for the effective implementation of Data Synchronisation between sales partners (suppliers and customers) and the company's players (marketing, logistics, transport, storage, etc.). These rules are intended for all partners wishing to exchange data on product packaging measurements. A common methodology of this kind for determining product packaging measurements is aimed at guaranteeing worldwide compatibility between everyone concerned. 1.2 Metric and imperial dimensions If the metric system is used, the recommended unit of measurement is the millimetre and, in this case, measurements are always rounded up to the next millimetre. For example: 99.3 mm becomes 100 mm. If the imperial system is used, the recommended unit of measurement is the inch and in this case the measurements are always rounded up to two figures after the decimal point. For example: inches becomes 2.95 pouces. If partners using different systems exchange data, the following conversion coefficients must be applied, with the rounding up of the measurement to the next figure: 1 inch = 25.4 mm 1 mm = pouce For the LACTALIS GROUP, the system used will be the metric system, the recommended unit being the Millimetre mm (MMT under the UOM Unit Of Measure standard). 1.3 The Consumer Unit (CU) The 1 st step consists of defining the CU's "main" or "sales " surface. This is the side with the largest surface area that is used by the manufacturer to "sell" the product to the consumer; in other words the side presenting the markings such as the product's name. This rule is independent of the product's orientation on the shelf. The products' orientation is that usually found on product sheets and on the websites presenting the LACTALIS GROUP (cf. appendix 1 Fig1). The rules are the same for products with variable weights. If a product's packaging has several possible surfaces, the highest side is considered to be the "main" surface (cf. appendix 1 Fig. 2). The maximum distance must always be measured, in other words taking into account protuding elements, closures, lids and other complementary elements (e.g. collectable items or samples) (cf. appendix 1 Fig. 3) Determination of the CU's dimensions (compulsory zones) Once the "main" surface has been determined, it is possible to determine: The height: distance between the "upper" and "lower" extremities The width: distance between the "left" and "right" extremities The depth: distance between the "front" and "back" extremities cf. appendix 1 Fig. 4 Analyse_BAC_mesures_embEng_V2.doc 3/17

1.3.2 Determination of the CU's dimensions (optional zones) The diameter: the diameter at its widest point The peg horizontal: for suspended items, the horizontal distance between the left extremity of the sales unit's packaging and the centre of the peg hole The peg vertical: for suspended items, the vertical distance between the upper extremity of the sales unit's packaging and the centre of the peg hole cf. appendix 1 Fig Suspended items and soft packaging A suspended item consists of any CU presented on a hanging hook. If the suspended item has a hole for hanging purposes, it must be measured as if it was suspended. Even if the suspended item is presented flat or stacked up, the mesurements must be determined as if it was suspended. The obligation to always measure the maximum distance also applies to suspended items (hole included). cf. appendix 1 Fig. 5 If a CU is presented in packaging that has a hanging hole, it must be measured as if it was suspended. In this case, the item must be measured from edge to edge (the two seams must be included in the measurement). Soft packaging, such as a bag of crisps, must be measured while the item is laid out flat. The measurements must be made on the CU's "main" surface. The seams at the item's extremities should only be measured if they have a hanging hole or if a seam is used as a support (e.g. to allow the vertical positioning of a drink container). cf. appendix 1 Fig Soft packaging with clips For items that have a clip, the length is the distance between the bottom of the packaging and the top of the clip. cf. appendix 1 Fig Unmarked soft packaging For sales units sold in unmarked transparent bags, the largest side is the "main" surface and the longest dimension is the height. cf. annexe 1 Fig Cylindrical items For cylindrical items, two dimensions are nominally equal. The result of the determination of the "main" surface determines the equal dimensions for the CUs. cf. appendix 1 Fig. 9 Analyse_BAC_mesures_embEng_V2.doc 4/17

1.3.7 Multiple packaging Items in multiple packaging constitute CUs in their own right, but contain several individual sales units that may be sold separately to the consumer. If a sales unit meets the definition of multiple packaging, it must be measured according to the rule regarding the "main" surface of a CU. If a multiple packaging unit may be suspended, it must be measured in accordance with the rule applicable to suspended items. cf. appendix 1 Fig Non-consumable sales units Boxes and presentation boxes Presentation Non-consumable sales units are identified by a GTIN and are intended for supermarket distribution. These range from packaging crates to the largest sales unit batch formats, but exclude pallets and other units such as sea freight containers or roll containers. If the sales unit may be considered to be a CU, the conditions specified for CUs prevail Determination of the support The natural support of the non-consumable sales unit must first of all be determined, before its height, width and depth can also be determined. The natural support is the natural under-surface; this usually corresponds to the position in which the box may be opened with the horizontal markings. For presentation boxes, the same rules apply. The direction of presentation to the consumer does not need to be taken into account Determination of the height, width and depth of the support Once the natural support has been determined, it is possible to determine the height, width and depth of an item: Height: the measurement from the support to the top of the sales unit Width: the sales unit support's shortest side Depth ( length): the sales unit support's longest side When referring to the longest dimension of a non-consumable sales unit, "length" is the appropriate term, but it will not be used to avoid confusion with the rules for determining the CU's dimensions. cf. appendix 1 Fig Pallets, ½ pallets and ¼ pallets There is no ENA-UCC standard, but ECR France allows for the following rules; the rules for determining the pallet support are the same as for boxes Determination of the height, width and depth of pallets: Height: This corresponds to the distance between the "upper" and "lower" extremities. The height of the pallet support and of any separator materials are included in the pallet's total height. The height of the pallet is not equal to the sum of the boxes' and support's heights if the boxes are not placed on the pallet on their natural base. Analyse_BAC_mesures_embEng_V2.doc 5/17

Width : This corresponds to the smallest horizontal dimension. For example, for a 80 X 120 pallet, the width is 800 mm and for a ½ pallet, the width is 600 mm. Depth : This corresponds to the largest horizontal dimension (synonym: length). For example, for a 80 x 120 pallet, the depth is 1200 mm and for a ½ pallet, the depth is 800 mm. Pallet height: Indication of the pallet height for non-standard pallets (Lactalis example?). cf. appendix 1 - Fig12 These are the minimum dimensions with no overhanging of the load. 1.5 Dimension attributes: Description Class Name Ean.fr N Item Name Depth TradeItemMeasurements 33 Depth All levels Height TradeItemMeasurements 35 Height All levels Width TradeItemMeasurements 38 Width All levels Diameter TradeItemMeasurements 34 Diameter CU only Peg horizontal TradeItemMeasurements 36 PegHorizontal CU only Peg vertical TradeItemMeasurements 37 Pegvertical CU only Pallet height TradeItemPalletInformatio n 196 PalletHeight All levels except CU Analyse_BAC_mesures_embEng_V2.doc 6/17

2. Other measurements: 2.1 Other measurements: Gross weight GrossWeight Unit - GRM or KGM Compulsory (5.3) Gross weight of the sales unit declared including packaging and conditioning. For a pallet, the weights of the support and any separator materials are included. Example: for a pallet = (gross weight of the box X number of boxes) + weight of the support + weight of the separator materials + weight of the overpackaging. Specific transport equipment (straps, protective mats or covers, etc.) is excluded from the calculation of the gross weight. For Lactalis: OK Net weight Netweight Unit GRM or KGM Optional (5.3) Concerns all levels except CUs (net content used). Net weight of the unit declared. The net weight excludes all packaging materials and applies to all the hierarchical levels except CUs. Example: Net weight of a pallet = sum of the consumer unit filling weights. For Lactalis: The net weight is compulsory on CUs (Group statistics in Kg). For the other hierarchies (LV) the net weight serves no purpose Net content NetContent Unit GRM, KGM, MLT, LTR, PCE Compulsory (10.4) Only concerns CUs. Quantity of product contained in the sales unit declared (examples: 250 grams, 1 litre, 10 pieces, etc.). This quantity is that indicated on the label placed on the sales unit. For Lactalis: OK Lactalis example for each unit GRM: Camembert de Campagne 250g. LTR: Skimmed Lactel UHT milk 1L. CL?: Bridelight low fat cream 20cl. PCE: Pieces?? Drained net weight DrainedWeight Unit GRM, KGM Optional (5.3) Only concerns CUs. Drained net weight of the sales unit declared. This corresponds to the net weight after draining of the liquid used for conditioning (250g e - e on the packaging) For Lactalis: OK Example 500 g e: BA Nature Natural fermented milk (4 X 125g) Feta cheese? Stacking factor StackingFactor Number Optional (6) Numer of times that the sales unit declared may be stacked on top of itself. The value 1 indicates that the sales unit is not stackable. 15 2.1.6 Maximum stacking weight StackingWeightMaximum Unit GRM, KGM Optional (7) The maximum permissible weight that may be stacked on the sales unit declared. This information is important for the storage and transporting of the sales units. For Lactalis: Is this information available (who has it?)? Price comparison content type PriceComparisonContentType See list (An 35) Optional / Compulsory Concerns only the CU level. Indication of the type of measurement used to display the price per unit of measurement on the shelves, in particular for the purposes of price comparison (legal obligation for some types of product). Does Lactalis have products that are subject to this legal obligation? Used only if the measurement type and unit are different from those used at Net Content level. Does this apply to any Lactalis products? These tolerance rules do not apply to intentional changes to the dimensions and weight of sales units Tolerance rules for consumer units The tolerance rules have not yet been validated at international level. For Lactalis, the rules below are a condensed version of those of EAN France, EAN Belgium/Luxembourg and EAN Holland. For ECR France: These rules concern the height, depth, width and diameter dimensions. These measurements must be given in mm and must always be rounded up to the nearest mm (example: 99.3 mm must be rounded up to 100 mm). The maximum accepted tolerance is +/- 5%. This rule applies to all packaging types (rigid, semi-rigid or soft) Tolerance rules for Logistical Units Logistical units may undergo dimensional and weight variations according to the production or climatic conditions (e.g. the variations for a pallet-type logistical unit may reach +/- 10%, depending on the nature of the product contained. A 80 * 120 standardised rented or exchanged pallet support weighs 25 kg (+/- 2 kg). To date, no standards have been defined to take these variations into account. Manufacturers must therefore provide the normal operating values for dimensions and weights. Analyse_BAC_mesures_embEng_V2.doc 16/17

2.3.3 Tolerance rules for variable weights (Lactalis) An item of variable weight may be: Guaranteed at CU level: in this case it the CU's net weight that is billed Guaranteed at package level: in this case, billing is based on the package's guaranteed net weight Otherwise: the weight to be billed is determined on preparation through weighing: To avoid errors and take shrinkage into account, a tolerance value may be given in % % higher % lower Analyse_BAC_mesures_embEng_V2.doc 17/17
