Camera LED 11. Camera Button 12. Smartphone Holder SET YOUR SPEED The drone has three speed settings. While learning to use the drone, it is advisable to start by using the slowest speed setting. To check and change the speed, press the Speed Selector on the controller. If you hear two tones, the drone is in slow speed. If you hear three tones the drone is in intermediate speed. If you hear a continuous series of tone the drone is in fast speed. 8 9
FLYING YOUR DRONE TRIMMING THE DRONE Use the controller's control sticks to fly your drone. The left control stick controls the ascent, descent, left turn and right turn. Move the stick slowly to avoid collisions and crashes. To ensure that your drone can fly straight and level, you must trim the aircraft. This can be done manually or automatically. The right control stick controls the forward, backward and lateral displacement (moving sideward without turning) in both directions. MANUAL TRIM Manual trim consists of calibrating the movement of your drone so it remains stable both in takeoff and in flight. NOTE: It is best to make final trim adjustments when the craft is airborne. (1) Left/Right Rotate Trim: Corrects unintentional movement in which the drone rotates left or right in a horizontal plane. Press in the opposite direction of the rotation. Press until the rotation stops. (2) Forward/Backward Trim: Corrects unintentional forward/backward motion. Press in the opposite direction of the unintentional motion. Press until the motion stops. ENDING FLIGHT (3) Left/Right Trim: Corrects unintentional lateral (side to side) movement. Press in the opposite direction of the unintentional motion. Press until the motion stops. To end your flight, switch off the controller and remove the battery from the drone. If you will not be flying again for several days, also remove the batteries from the controller
AUTOMATIC TRIM Automatic Trim resets the drone to its default settings. Automatic Trim is useful in situations such as: The aircraft has had an impact that has affected its gyroscope/electronic stabilizer. You have transported the aircraft from one place to another. Your drone does not maintain its fixed position when hovering. To reset using Automatic Trim: 1. Switch the controller's Power button to the ON position. 2. Move both left and right control sticks to the bottom-left. The LED lights will flash rapidly, indicating that the reset is in process. 3. After 10 seconds, return both control sticks to their initial position. The lights on the drone will stop flashing, indicating that the reset completed successfully. It is advisable to perform an Automatic Trim to reset to default settings fairly often. FLIGHT TIME Your drone's flight time varies depending on a range of factors, such as: The battery charge level The speed at which you fly your aircraft. The wind speed to which the aircraft is subjected. As a general rule, with the battery fully charged you can expect a continuous hovering flight time of up to 7 minutes. HEADLESS MODE FUNCTION You can set the forward direction of your drone to a cardinal point. For example, if the drone is pointing north when you activate Headless Mode, north will be the forward direction, regardless of the position of the front and back of the drone. To activate Headless Mode, before take-off press the Headless Mode button. You will hear tones from the controller, indicating that Headless Mode is activated. Headless Mode must be activated before take-off. To reset to a new direction, you must reboot the drone by disconnecting and reconnecting the drone's battery. To disable Headless Mode, press the Headless Mode button again. RETURN HOME FUNCTION The Return Home function allows you to bring the drone back to its starting position, moving backward based on the direction that was set on take-off. NOTE: Using this feature is not recommended until you are fully experienced with controlling your drone. To activate the Return Home function, press the Return Home Button. The drone will move in the backward direction, based on the direction set on take-off. To deactivate the Return Home function, perform any movement with the right control stick
ASSEMBLING THE OBSTACLES The obstacles are pre-cut on three foam core boards. Before assembling, remove each piece and pop out the foam from the pre-cut slots To assemble the landing pad: 1. Align the tabs in Part 1 (4 pieces) with the slots in the bottom of Part 2 and push to attach. To assemble the stunt ring: 1. Bend the ends of Part 5 along the pre-creased lines. 2. Align the slots in Part 5 with the slots in Part 3 and push to attach. To assemble the course flag: 1. Align the slot on Part 4 with the slot on the bottom of Part 6 and push to attach. 2. Align the slots in Part 7 with the tabs in the combined Part 4 and Part 6 and push to attach
TAKING PICTURES AND VIDEOS NOTE: Pictures are saved on an optional Micro SD card. See Page 17. To take pictures or videos with your drone, activate the camera by sliding the Camera Power switch backward, which is the ON position. The Camera LED on the controller will begin blinking. To take a picture, press the Camera button on the controller. A tone will sound. To take a video, press and hold the Camera button for 3 seconds. Two tones will sound, indicating that the video has started. To end the video, press and hold the Camera button again for 3 seconds. To turn off the camera, slide the Camera Power switch forward. Turning off the camera increases the flight time of your drone. NOTE: To take pictures and videos using the Racing Drone app, see Page 20. VIEWING PICTURES AND VIDEOS If you are using the Racing Drone app, you can view pictures and videos taken with the app on your smartphone. If you are not using the app, you can store pictures on a Micro SD card, purchased separately, and view them on a computer or other device that supports the Micro SD card format. To use a Micro SD card, slide the card into the Micro SD card slot on the bottom of the drone, under the antenna wire. Your pictures and videos will be stored on the card. To view the pictures and videos: 1. Carefully remove the Micro SD card from the drone. 2. Insert the Micro SD card into your viewing device, such as your computer. Ensure that the card is inserted correctly to avoid damaging the components. 3. Open the Devices list on your viewing device and locate the newly recognized storage device. 4. Open the storage device. You will see one folder for videos and one folder for photos. The photos are stored in JPG format; the videos are stored as MP4 files. If you are unable to open these standard formats, you can convert the files or download appropriate software. ELECTRONIC PROTECTION SYSTEM Your drone is equipped with a low-voltage protection system. When the drone's battery level is low, the control system will cut the power supply to the rotors. You must recharge the battery to resume flying
REPLACING DAMAGED ROTOR BLADES The drone has four rotors, two of which turn clockwise (A) and two turn counterclockwise (B). Four replacement rotor blades are included with your drone, two type A and two type B. If a rotor blade becomes damaged, replace it by removing the damaged blade and replace it with a new blade of the same type. If you need additional replacement rotor blades, contact Brookstone Customer Service at REPLACING THE DRONE'S COVER Your drone comes with a replacement drone cover in an alternate color. To change the drone cover: 1. Remove the drone's battery. 2. Squeeze the cover's arms to remove them from the slots to release the cover. 3. Gently pull the cover off. 4. Attach the new cover, fitting the arms into the slots, and replace the battery. To control your drone with the app: 1. Place the drone on a flat surface and connect the drone's battery.
