Assembly Gimbal & Camera 1) Unscrew the camera fastener from the gimbal. 2) Attach the camera into the gimbal frame, keeping the camera lens on the right. 3) Fasten the camera fastener and fit the gimbal board under the airframe. 4) Slide the gimbal board into the mount, match the opening of gimbal board with the mount screw hole and hold it in place with screw. Camera strap Camera Gimbal Screw Instructions: Assembly Unfolding Dragonfly 1) Push down the spring button under the motor arm and slowly twist the arm until the end. 2) The arm will be locked in place with a click. 3) Unfold the rear arms before unfolding the front ones. 4) To fold the drone, push down the spring button and twist the arms back in. rear arm front arm front arm rear arm Assembly Landing Gears 1) Match the landing gears with the gear mounts and push them into place. 2) To dismount the gears, pull them down gently. Gimbal Board Do not install or remove the gimbal while the drone is powered on. Otherwise, the gimbal will be damaged. Assembly Battery 1) Pull up the spring button located at the airframe tail. 2) Align the battery with the airframe, match the battery plug with the PCB slot, and slide the battery into the airframe until it is locked in place with a click. 3) To remove the battery, pull up the spring button first and then pull the battery out. Spring Button Gimbal Mount battery battery plug Gesture to install or remove battery landing gears airframe Assembly Propellers 1) Attach the silver cap propellers onto the silver motors and secure them by spinning clockwise. 2) Attach the black cap propellers onto the black motors and secure them by spinning counterclockwise. 3) Arrows around the propeller cap indicate the directions of locking and unlocking. 4) To remove the propellers from motors, just spin them in the opposite direction. unlock lock unlock lock PCB Slot Battery Plug Push 1. Do not install or remove the battery while the drone is on. 2. Do not force the battery into airframe if it gets stuck. 3. Wiggle the battery a few times until the battery plug goes into the PCB slot. Assembly RF Controller 1) Fix the mobile holder on the RF Controller, and fix the nut on the screw bar to make the holder face front. 2) Adjust the holder to the desired position, stretch the holder clamp, and place your smartphone in the clamp. Black cap propellers Silver cap propellers Black Motor Silver Motor Silver Motor Black Motor Flight Preparation Camera 1) Remove the lens cover and insert a microsd card (Max. 64GB) into the camera s SD card slot. 2) Press and hold the Power button to turn on the camera. 3) The camera will automatically turn Wi-Fi on. 4) If you want to change camera settings, press the Settings button. 5) Press the Power button to navigate through the settings, and press the Record button to change a particular setting. 1

2 6) Press and hold the Power button to turn the camera off. 7) The photos or videos can be transmitted to computer from the SD card or USB cable. OK Button Flight Instructions RF Controller Modes 1) The default control mode is Beginner Mode (NOR MODE), which requires 6 GPS satellites to launch Dragonfly. 2) In professional mode (ADV MODE), Dragonfly can take off without any GPS signals and fly faster and further. 3) To switch the control modes, press and hold the Hover button (H) and turn the RF Controller on. Power Button/Down Arrow Settings/ WIFI on It is not recommended to choose professional mode for beginners. SD Card Slot 1. Do not insert or take out the microsd card while the camera is powered on. 2. The card won t go into the slot if inserted in the opposite 3. The camera supports 4K or 2.7K video with microsd cards that have a read rate of more than 80MB/s. Flight Preparation Camera App 1) Search and install Merlin Dragonfly app from Google Play or App Store. 2) Turn the drone on and wait for the camera to enable its Wi-Fi connection. 3) Search and connect to the camera s Wi-Fi connection from your smartphone s Wi-Fi settings. (Password: ) 4) Run Merlin Dragonfly app and tap on Connect Camera to enter the live video interface. 5) Tap Photo or Record to switch the shooting mode. 6) Tap the shutter button to take a photo or video. 7) Tap Local to access your videos and photos, and tap Save to download files to your smartphone. the numbers of shots in continous shooting time interval of burst shooting time of delay shooting resolutions of photo and video Flight Instructions RF Controller Left & Right Modes 1) By default, the Left Joystick is set to control the power of the motors (American Mode). 2) To switch the control to the Right Joystick (Japanese Mode), press and hold the Land button and turn the RF Controller on. 3) To switch the controls back to the Left Joystick, press and hold the Take Off button and turn the RF Controller on. Power Left Mode(American Hand) Power Right Mode(Japanese Hand) Flight Instructions Take-Off Preparations for RF Controller 1) Place Dragonfly on a flat, level surface and turn on the battery by pressing & hold the power button at the back. 2) Dragonfly will immediately start system self-check when the front red LEDs light once and rear blue LEDs quickly flash. 3) Dragonfly will indicate a successful flight control check by giving out a beep and slowly flashing the blue LEDs. 4) When the gimbal is level, the aircraft will give out a second beep, indicating that the gimbal is functioning properly. 5) Turn on the RF Controller and wait for it to get connected to the drone. 6) The LCD screen on the RF Controller will display the control interface, indicating that the controller has successfully connected to the drone. 7) Wait for the drone to acquire at least 6 GPS satellites and the RF Controller LCD screen to display the Flight Ready icon 6 APP Settings 00:00:00 Media Library Shooting Modes Shutter Button 1. Merlin Dragonfly app requires Android 4.2 or later or ios 7.1 or later. 2. The app won t record if there is no microsd card in the camera. 3. The camera s image transmission rate is about 30 meters. You might experience a delay in live feed if the drone is too far away from your smartphone. RF Controller Interface Gimbal Pitch LCD Screen Mobile Holder Gimbal Yaw 1. If the drone fails to acquire enough satellite signals, move the drone to a more open location. 2. Do not touch or move the drone while it is performing system self-check. 3. If the drone is left idle for 10 minutes after powering on, it will sound an audible alarm. To stop the alarm, turn the drone off. TAKE CIRCLE HOVER LANDING RETURN HOME / Flight Instructions Take-Off on RF Controller 1) Activate the propeller motors by pushing the Left Joystick to the lower right corner and hold it for 3 seconds. 2) Once the motors start spinning, push the Left Joystick up slowly to take off Dragonfly. 3) Alternatively, pressing the Take Off button makes Dragonfly ascend to a height of 5 meters and hover in place autonomously. 2

RC Watch Interface If Dragonfly doesn t take off within 6 seconds after the Flight Instructions Landing on RF Controller 1) To land the drone, slowly pull the Left Joystick down. Flight Instructions Follow Me Mode on RC Watch 1) Wear the RC Watch on your wrist and wait for the drone to acquire at least 8 Follow-Me GPS satellites. 2) When the drone has acquired enough satellite signals, the RC Watch display will show icon. 3) Press the Follow Me button once and start moving. 4) Dragonfly will autonomously follow the RC watch when they are 5 meters away from one another. 5) Press the Hover button to stop the Follow Me mode. 1. The drone s head will point towards the watch at all times. 2. When the watch stops moving, the drone will hover near the watch. MAINTENANCE 1) Your drone is capable of taking photographs and videos. Comply fully with local and international rules & regulations concerning the use of quadcopters/drones/uav-type devices, and Respect People s Privacy. 2) Fly in an open, wide area without large obstacles such as buildings, trees, cellphone/radio towers or electric wires within a 30-meter radius as they may distort your drone s GPS signal and/or cause hindrance to its flight path. 3) Always keep the drone within your line of sight while flying. 4) Do not fly close to metal structures with strong magnetic fields. 5) Do not operate your drone in strong winds, rain, lightning, snow or foggy conditions. Bad weather may weaken GPS satellite signals and even result in damage to the aircraft. 6) Keep your drone at least 5 meters away from people, animals or other objects during takeoff. 7) We recommend that you fly your drone within a 100-meter range, even though the RC controller distance is one kilometer. 8) Do not apply excessive force when removing/attaching the drone's battery. 9) Do not pour water or other liquids on the device. 10) Try to land the drone as softly as possible to avoid damage from hard landings. 11) Fly the drone in a clear, open and safe environment to avoid damage to others as well as the drone. Flight Instructions Return Home on RC Watch 1) To enable the drone s Return Home function, press and hold the Land button. 2) When activated, the drone will autonomously ascend to 15 meters, slowly fly back to the take-off point and land. 3) If there are obstacles in the drone s path back to its take-off point, you can take control of the drone using the RC Watch. Return Home function works only when the drone is at least 5 meters away from its take-off point. Flight Instructions Rotating (Pan Shot) on RC Watch 1) Press the Auto Rotate button once and Dragonfly will keep rotating clockwise in its current 2) Press the Hover button once to stop the drone from auto-rotating. FAQ Q) The drone won t take off. A) Dragonfly won t take off if it fails to acquire the required number of GPS satellite signals (6 for RF Controller & 10 for RC Watch). Q) The drone motors turn off right after they turn on. A) If Dragonfly doesn t take off within 6 seconds after the Q) The drone doesn t fly proper. A) If the RC Watch or RF Controller is powered off, Dragonfly will autonomously return to its take-off point. Q) What will happen if my drone s battery level is low? A) When the battery is low, Dragonfly will emit an audible alarm and the front red LEDs will begin flashing. The drone will then autonomously land at its current Q) What is the range of the controller and watch? A) The control distance of RC Watch is 50 meters and RF Controller is 1 kilometer. If Dragonfly flies out of range and loses connection, it will autonomously hover and return to its take-off point. Q) Merlin Dragonfly app won t open/crashes. A) Merlin Dragonfly app requires Android 4.2 or later or ios 7.1 and above. LIMITED WARRANTY Merlin Products are covered by a limited one-year warranty policy. If the product suffers from a manufacturing defect, the customer will receive a replacement if claimed within 15 days of the purchase date. Otherwise, the product will be inspected for possible repair options. The product will either be repaired and returned free of charge, or replaced. All repair services past the one-year warranty period will be charged for any repairs that need to be made. If the client is located outside the UAE, or is otherwise unable to personally deliver the defective product to our service center or retail outlets, he/she may send it via post at his/her own cost. The repaired/replaced product will then be returned to the client via courier mail at Merlin s cost, as long as the warranty period is still active.
