PTV Vissim is seamlessly integrated in the Sitraffic system landscape PTV Vissim is fully compatible with Sitraffic Office, allowing the software to simulate the entire range of traffic control and management systems of the Sitraffic family: from traffic control platforms with Sitraffic Scala, Sitraffic Concert and Sitraffic Guide and adaptive network control with Sitraffic Motion MX down to individual traffic controllers. This opens up a wide scope of applications for intersection, route and network simulation. Sitraffic Office and PTV Vissim ideally complement each other All steps can be carried out at a single workstation, from planning an intersection (including tests and simulation of intersection design and data supply) right up to planning traffic actuation algorithms for entire networks. PTV Vissim and Sitraffic Office are seamlessly integrated, enabling the direct transfer of all required data and configuration parameters from Sitraffic Office to PTV Vissim. Hence the user can start the test or simulation process right within Sitraffic Office. The types of data that can be transmitted include, for instance, intersection topology, layout plan, individual links or the entire network with all relevant objects, as well as traffic volume profiles on the basis of existing directional volume flows. For different intersection states or versions, identical simulation parameters are used. Naturally, all relevant data are stored also in the central data base of Sitraffic Office. The system has been designed for analyzing and modeling networks of any size and traffic management systems of all types, from individual intersections right up to entire conurbations. The links and connectors concept of the PTV Vissim network topology allows for highest versatility and in combination with detailed motion models extremely precise traffic modeling, including pedestrians and their complex interaction with the surrounding traffic flows. How effective is the PT priority scheme in the inner city of x? What will be the benefits of traffic-actuated signal control at intersection y? What are the optimum dimensions and design of a large PT node? PTV Vissim makes it easy to find the answers to these and many other questions. 6

7 PTV Vissim can model both motorized and non-motorized traffic flows For traffic flow modeling, an unlimited number of vehicle types can be defined in PTV Vissim, including cars, trucks, vehicles equipped with satnavs, busses, tramway and light-rail vehicles and even airplanes. In addition to motorized means of transport, the system can also include pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users in the simulation. PTV Vissim uses a psycho-physical driving-behavior model For simulating the movements of the vehicles involved, PTV Vissim uses an evidence-based psycho-physical car-following model with a temporal resolution of up to 1/10 seconds. The rule-based lane-change model has been optimized for simulating urban as well as interurban traffic. Driver behavior patterns can be defined on the basis of user-configurable driver-vehicle classes. PTV Vissim offers different ways of visualizing route choices When working with PTV Vissim, the user has the choice of different options for visualizing route choices to perfectly suit the available data sets and the specific objective of the analysis at hand. List Smart Map Result lists: The result list automatically displays one result line for each combination of network object, simulation run and time interval. With a click on the corresponding button in the tool bar, the list can be easily exported to a text file or data base. 3D visualizations turn the results of multimodal simulations into easy-tounderstand, convincing arguments.
