7 Focus Innovation: New Legislation - Innovation & NT.New TEN-T Guidelines ( ): Article 33 - very much enlarged scope -.(a&b) Decarbonisation of all transport modes: alternative propulsion» Incl. electricity supply systems» Incl. infrastructure-vehicle interface» Telematic applications» >>> i.e. a 1-stop shop for possible applications.(c) Safety & sustainability of transport.(d) Operations, etc, incl. multi-modal ticketing, coordination of travelling.(e) Reduction of external costs, incl. congestion, health damage, noise, etc.(f) Security & identification standards.(g) Resilience to climate change.(h) Telematics within and between transport modes Transeuropean Networks Mobility & Transport 7

8 Innovation Concept: Market-sided Innovation.Developed since 2008.Objective: open TEN-T for innovation & new technologies to provide sustainable transport for persons & goods.how? -> Market-sided versus Research-sided innovation.no. research! >>> technology ready for deployment Innovation on technology and processes.the role of business-client relations.."real-life Trials", not just demos Study = Analysis at end of trial» to summarise lessons learnt» for role-out to market in country/corridor/network» and to disseminate in general.. Results even before start of CEF: 23 Projects ++ Europe cannot wait: creating a (limited opening) under the old legislation ( ).Annual programme calls: 2010, end 2011, Nov 2012, Dec'2013.Multi-annual calls: Nov 2012, Dec'2013.I.e. total of 6 call for proposals.results "on the ground", not just paper until end 2013: 23 funded innovative studies with integrated deployment.short duration: 2-3 years max; first results after about 1 year.size 5 to 80 M total project cost (infrastructure only),.with up to 50% TEN-T support.dec'2013 Call: half of projects to annual prog. calls on innovation & NT part (34) ; selection process ongoing a very big increase!
