2 2 2 HANDLE 2.2 MILLION S L obito Port reached a new level in 2, in handling a total of two million two hundred thousand tons compared to 29.The increase of over ten percent in handling of goods at this port do not apply the rates recorded by handling containers, as, for the first time this port included a reduction of 9.6%. On the other hand, it was also verified the increase tendencies of vehicles unload, therefore this segment has decreased by Thirteen Thousand units compared to the same period of the previous year. Lobito Port, created 83 years ago, according to the importance of Benguela railway, and is re-

3 2 garded as economic development strategy unit for the country and the Southern African region. It s from Lobito Port where was born Benguela railway crossing Angolan territory, in a distance of,34 kilometers, connects with the D.R Congo and Zambia railways. Note that the volume of goods handled, made 2 a historical year for the port and is a well-deserved reward for all Lobito port Community, that proves to be motivated and prepared to confront and overcome the challenges ahead, showing a dynamism that allows to set the port on the route of progress. 3

4 2 4 RESULT OF EFFICIENCY L obito Port Company got a positive balance in the first quarter of this year, in loading and unloading Vessels result of its traditional efficiency. 599,94 (Five Hundred Ninety-Nine Thousand and Ninety-Four) tons of goods planned, were handled (Six hundred Thirty-Eight Thousand and Two hundred) tons corresponding to a difference of 35,765 (Thirty-Five Thousand Seven Hundred Sixty Five) tons for the same period in which were handled 62,834 (Six Hundred Two Thousand and Eight Hundred Thirty-Four) tons, registering an increase of 5.6%. At the same period 2 of 62 Vessels planned berthed in Lobito, being 4 Container, 88 general cargo, 2 Ro-Ro, 23 oil tankers, 7 butanes 2 fishing boat, freezer, 32 tugs and 2 others, registering an increase of 2.5%

5 2 The Vessels permanence average in the first quarter was 3, 3 days against 2, 65 days same period of the previous year, registering an increase of, 38%. During the referred period were unloaded 37 vehicles, against,833 in the first quarter of the previous year, verifying a reduction of,56 vehicles. To enhance the increase of registered container handling in the first three months of this year, having Shipped 6.29 and 7.47 disembarked a totalizing 3,765 containers against of the first quarter of the previous year, equivalent to 37,263 tons. At the end of the concerned quarter, there were (5.729) five thousand, seven hundred twenty-nine containers in the port yard. During the second quarter of this year, Lobito Port handled goods totalizing 826,49 (Eight Hun- 5

6 2 6 dred Twenty Six Thousand Four hundred and Nine) tons, plus Two Hundred Sixty -Six Thousand, Hundred Thirty-Six (266,36) tons over the same period of the previous year. At this period it was shipped (44,78) Forty-Four Thousand, Hundred Seventy Eight tons over 2, 494 in the first quarter of 2. Also it was disembarked 782,222 tones, which tons of cabotage and tons of imports, over tons compared to the first quarter of previous year. During this period,,99 containers were handled equivalent to 24,83 tons, being 6,32 full containers and 4,589 empty containers, against 4,77 tons in 2.

7 2 78 vessels berthed in Lobito port for commercial operations, over 6 vessels in relation to the provided plan in the following composition: 82 containers Vessel, 82 general cargos, Ro-Ro, 34 oil tankers, 8 butane, 4 fish, 3 freezer, 2 tugs and 8 others. All resources and infrastructure available, have allowed the company to achieve rates of production and optimal provision of satisfactory service to customers fact that, certainly attract many companies and ship-owners who have chosen this route as one of the most preferable. These indicators fail to anticipate better days for the company, with the resumption of Benguela Railway. 7
