1 MONTHLY CONTAINER TRADE REPORT - Overseas Containers MONTHLY OVERSEAS CONTAINER TRADE UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 217 Overseas container trade September 217 Full overseas container imports Full overseas container exports Empty overseas container imports Empty overseas container exports overseas containers 3.7% 8.2% -16.3% 6.2% 5.1% 14,189 59,8 2,692 37,722 23,684 overseas container throughput (full + empty) for September was 23,684, this was an increase of 5.1% over September 216. (full + empty) overseas container imports for the month were up by 3.1% while total (full + empty) overseas container exports were also up by 7.4% in comparison to September 216. Full overseas container imports were 14,189, an increase of 3.7% against September last year. Most commodities recorded gains for the month including furniture, miscellaneous manufactures, machinery, confectionary and toys & sporting goods. Commodities with the most notable declines were paper & fibre boards, vehicle parts, clothing and textiles. Full overseas container exports were 59,8 for September 217 which was up 8.2% against September 216. Several commodities recorded gains for the month including stockfeed, paper & fibre boards, timber, fruit & vegetables, metal scrap and meat. Commodities with the most notable declines were pulp & waste paper, oil seeds, cereal grains, malt and vehicle parts. Empty overseas container movements for September were up 4.4% over the same period last year to 4,414. Empty overseas exports rose 6.2% for the month, while empty overseas imports fell by 16.3% against September 216.
