Smaller alliances or partnerships may occur on North South and Regional trades. CMA CGM has entered into agreement on Asia Africa with Maersk and on South America with Hamburg Sud. CNC operates several independent agreements. 13
14 Bigger vessels are becoming the new standard 13,800 TEUs, 16,000 TEUs and 18,000 TEUs are becoming the new normal. On Asia Europe, where you need to deploy a minimum of 10 ships and up to 12 ships, the slot cost of a TEU is 25% below the slot cost of a TEU. Alliances require fleets of VLCC. 14
15 Container Carriers Challenges Investment heavy industry - with movable assets Size matters! Vessel cascading Rate volatility Seasonalities, containers flows, trade balances, etc Impact of trade restrictions, bans, etc Lack of sufficient Port infrastructures and innovation 15
16 A new competition between Canals is taking place. New Suez Canal: The construction of a parallel route to the old Canal, with a length of 34 km The doubling of the canal s width on 37 km. The number of vessels sailing through the Canal will be doubled: from an average 49 vessels transiting daily through the canal today to 97 in 2023 Transit times will be decreased from 18 to 11 hours for northbound convoys New Panama Canal: The construction of a parallel route to the old Canal Bigger vessels (up to 13,000 Teus) will cross the new Canal ( instead of 5,100 TEUs ) The number of vessels sailing through the Canal will be increased: from an average 36 vessels transiting daily through the canal today to 50 with the new one No change in transit time 16

23 Customer expectations increase, and they are right! Carriers have to guarantee the cold supply chain integrity not only during the Sea transport Farms and consumption centers are not often located close to the ports. Cold chain integrity is imposing reliable intermodal solutions on barges / rail / trucks to deliver boxes with perfect temperature controls. 50% of volume shipped are moving with one transshipment minimum. This requires at a bare minimum, port reliability, plugging support and accurate cargo flow management. 23
