Apply sustainable packaging guideline assessment for all new product development (commencing Q2 2011). Commence application of sustainable packaging guideline assessment for existing packaging Complete. A Sustainable Packaging Assesment form has been developed and is being applied. Sustainable Packaging Assessment is being applied to local new products as part of the internal product development and approval process. The APC Sustainable Packaging Guidelines have been applied to all existing locally made products. In addition to the local sustainable packaging assessment process, globally Colgate-Palmolive has been progressively rolling out a formal 'Product Sustainability Scorecard' to identify opportunities to improve the sustainability profile of new products. In 2012, 31% of new products globally were assessed through this process.

3 Goal 2: Recycling KPI 3: % signatories applying on-site recovery systems for used packaging. Do you have on-site recovery systems for recycling used packaging? at all facilities/ sites at some, but not all facilities/ sites Please indicate your progress this year towards achieving your annual targets and milestones for KPI 3 Review existing recyclable collection systems used throughout the organisation. Identify improvements and apply to existing systems. The recovery systems for recycling have been reviewed at both of Colgate-Palmolive's Australian facilities, and found to be effectively maximising recovery rates. In addition to ensuring maximum recyclable material recovery rates, there has been significant focus in both local manufacturing facilities on material loss improvement, measured as a %, and tracked against a corporate KPI. Packaging waste is a sub set of the measured material losses being tracked. Both facilities demonstrated significant material loss % reductions in 2012, thereby minimising waste that would be recovered through recycling. KPI 4: Signatories implement formal policy of buying packaging made from recycled products. Does your company have a formal policy of buying packaging made from recycled packaging? Is this policy actively used? Please indicate your progress this year towards achieving your annual targets and milestones for KPI 4 Review existing packaging purchasing policy; align with Sustainable Packaging Guideline application. Develop and deliver formal communication of updated purchasing policy to packaging procurement personnel. Potential new suppliers are assessed for material recyclability, and recycled content, as a component of the Colgate-Palmolive tendering process that is managed by the packaging procurement team. Additionally, existing suppliers are encouraged to investigate opportunities to increase recycled content, and partner with Colgate- Palmolive to validate a positive change. Colgate-Palmolive has made a global commitment to increasing the recycled content of packaging materials each year until 2015, as part of our Corporate Product Sustainability Goals. Since measuring started in 2012, recycled content has increased from 30% 1H12 to 35% 2H12.

4 Goal 3: Product Stewardship KPI 6: % signatories with formal processes to work collaboratively on packaging design and / or recycling. Does your company have formal processes in place for collaborating with other companies or organisations on improved packaging designs and/or recycling which aims to reduce or eliminate waste? Please indicate your progress this year towards achieving your annual targets and milestones for KPI 6 Engage suppliers, customers and external packaging engineers; establish formal processes for assessing feasibility of altering current packaging management methodology, with the aim of aligning with sustainable packaging guidelines. Colgate-Palmolive Australia engages packaging design specialist companies, and packaging suppliers, for new packaging designs, to ensure that the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines are applied for all proposed new packaging designs. As examples of the above, in 2012 Colgate-Palmolive Australia collaborated with external stakeholders (suppliers, industrial designers) on bottle designs to minimise plastic (whilst maintaining top load strength), on shippers to identify opportunities to lightweight board, on spray triggers to improve recyclability, and on labels to improve recyclability. KPI 7: % signatories showing other Product Stewardship outcomes. Since the beginning of the reporting period, has your company had any other outcomes related to product stewardship? If yes, please give examples of other product stewardship outcomes In 2012, Colgate-Palmolive furthered it's global commitment improving Product Sustainability. This included expanded rollout of the 'Product Sustainability Scorecard' new product assessment process, and increased focus on formula sustainability, packaging design and recycled content, and product safety and quality compliance. Please indicate your progress this year towards achieving your annual targets and milestones for KPI 7 Through the application of the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines develop packaging design and management strategies for 2012 and beyond that aim to deliver reduced packaging material consumption, increase recyclable content and improve efficiency throughout the entire packaging procurement, conversion and supply chain. Colgate-Palmolive Australia has worked with the global sustainability team to adopt the corporate 2015 sustainability strategy, including programs, annual targets, and reporting mechanisms, to achieve improvement in the company's sustainability profile. The corporate strategy is closely aligned with the APC Sustainable Packaging Guideline requirements, and represents a full lifespan approach to product responsibility.

5 KPI 8: Reductions in packaging items in the litter stream. Please indicate your progress this year towards achieving your annual targets and milestones for KPI 8 Develop longer term action plan for this section The potential for existing and new products to become litter is now assessed as part of the Packaging Sustainability Assessement process that has been implemented. As all Colgate-Palmolive products sold in Australia are household goods, the likelihood of packaging from Colgate products becoming litter is minimal. Housekeeping inspection programs, that are aligned with Colgate's corporate 'Visual Workplace' standard, are in place in Colgate-Palmolive Australia's manufacturing facilities to ensure litter is controlled and employees understand their responsibilities when it comes to litter. Inspection completion is closely monitored, and effectiveness is measured and reported, in both facilities. Your Experiences This section lets you share with us any achievements, good news stories and areas of difficulties in making progress against your plan and the Covenant goals and KPIs. Key achievements or good news stories The following are examples of packaging sustainability improvements made in Detergent refill packs (Doys) were required by customers to change to Shelf Ready display shippers in early The only solution that was identified at the time, to meet the timing requirements, was a 'tray and hood' 2 part display pack, that required components to be printed and assembled in multiple supplier locations, and using rigid board grades to achieve the required top load strength. In 2012, the packaging team developed an alternate shelf ready display shipper for detergent refill packs, that used a lower weight (higher recycled content) RSC shipper and a cardboard insert to achieve the required top load strength with less materials that are simpler to produce. 2L detergent bottles were identified as an opportunity area for improving pallet/transport efficiency by making minor modifications to the width and depth dimensions. As a result, pallets now contain 32 cases per pallet, rather than 28 previously, reducing the environmental impact of this product through more efficient shipping.
