Stöcklin recognized this trend at an early stage and developed solutions for storing goods in areas with controlled temperature to meet the high requirements of the foodstuffs and pharmaceutical industries. All standard elements from Stöcklin can be adapted for use in refrigerated storage with temperatures down to -30 C. Naturally, it is not sufficient to only adapt the electrical components, cables, various oils and greases to low ambient temperatures. It is also necessary to use materials suitable for deep-freeze zones in our steel construction. We guarantee you a continuous deep-freeze chain from initial storage to picking and shipment. 8 THE STÖCKLIN POWER SHUTTLE STÖCKLIN HAS DEVELOPED THE POWERSHUTTLE FOR CHANNEL STORAGE SYSTEMS FOR SPACE SAVING AND EFFICIENT STORAGE OF GOODS WITH LOW PRODUCT DIVERSITY BUT With the Stöcklin Power Shuttle, goods can be conveyed efficiently and carefully. CHANNEL STORAGE SYSTEMS THE SPACE-SAVING CHANNEL WAREHOUSE SYSTEM IS SUITABLE FOR WAREHOUSES WITH HIGH TRANSSHIP- MENT LEVEL BUT LOW PRODUCT DIVER- SITY. Channel storage systems or compact warehouses are advantageous for space optimized storage of goods such as foodstuffs and beverages. For such applications Stöcklin has developed its own satellite vehicle, the «PowerShuttle». Usually, goods with low product mix depths and preferably products of one type are stored in so-called compact warehouses. Assignment of storage locations is accomplished according to the specifications of the warehouse management system and is based on the First-Expired-First-Out (FEFO) principle in consideration of the best-before date on the goods. HIGH STORAGE DENSITY. Functions The PowerShuttle (PS) is moved by the AS/RS (automated storage and retrieval system) in front of a shelf channel and then moved horizontally into the channel on the rail. Here, a pallet is either set down on the rails or picked up and retrieved from storage. This is all accomplished without any cables to the parent vehicle, the AS/RS. The PS communicates by radio and is positioned by a laser distance measurement device in combination with absolute encoders and sensors. The PS is available in versions for one or two pallets (single or double PS) and is laid out for 3-shift operation 6 days a week. It is also suitable for use down to -30 C. Power Supply The power supply for the PowerShuttle deserves particular attention. The PS is driven by a power source with SuperCaps and emergency battery (on-board voltage 24 V DC). The double layer capacitors (SuperCaps) are recharged within 10 s over pressure contacts on the AS/ RS every time they dock.the long service life of 1 million charging cycles is a major advantage of this low maintenance power source. To ensure that the PS operates reliably even at highly differing temperatures, the energy management system monitors the heat development and operating voltage of the SuperCap cells. The percentage charge is measured continuously so that the PLC control always knows how much power is still available and can reliably return the PS to the AS/RS when the level drops below the limit. Moreover, the energy generated during braking is reclaimed by the battery to reduce the charging power required during the next charging operation.

The Stöcklin Logistik AG engineers integrate their considerable competencies into all projects with customized solutions for picking systems - from planning to key delivery. Thereby we differentiate between crewed picking systems, which move goods to personnel or vice versa, and fully automated high performance picking systems with robot or sorting plants, including fully automated infeed and outfeed systems. Our experienced experts have the latest tools available like design programs for 3D visualizations, simulation and performance calculation programs, test facilities on site and model making. They allow our experts to meet the main requirements during interpretation of picking systems like required features, carrier systems (pallets, box pallets or other carriers), local space conditions, work place ergonomics and safety as well as cost-efficiency in line with complete solution concepts. Thereby we develop concepts which can be integrated into any picking solution. Among them are linking possibilities to Pick by Light and Pick by Voice procedures or picking via paper record. Roller Conveyor The roller conveyor is applied for horizontal transport of load units. Load conveying is carried out lengthwise to conveying direction. Chain Conveyor The chain conveyor (with two guide rails) is designed to transport wooden pallets or similar load units. Load conveying is carried out crosswise. Chain conveyors with three guide rails are also available for mixed transport of different pallets.

16 Lifting Table The lifting table serves to transfer the containers within 90 without changing the direction of the load. The lift is originated by a swiveling movement of the roller conveyor. The lifting table is applicable for chain conveyors and roller conveyors. Chain Lifting Table The chain lifting table is mainly used in warehouses with minor material flows. Rotating Lifting Table The rotating lifting table is primarily designed to turn over the pallet from crosswise transport on the chain conveyor to lengthwise transport on the roller conveyor without changing the conveying direction. This feature can also take place in reverse order. The turn is carried out by means of a driving chain. Shifting Unit The shifting unit is a horizontal continuous conveyor for transferring packaged goods which is received from another conveying element, shifted laterally and then delivered to a third conveying element. It is available with stationary drive station. It is used for little route displacements. This element can be assembled with chain conveyor, roller conveyor or toothed belt conveyor.

18 Shuttle Car The shuttle car (VW) is a horizontal continuous conveyor for transferring packaged goods which is received from another conveying element, shifted laterally and then delivered to a third conveying element. It is available with stationary or onboard drive station. It is used for medium or big displacements. Chain conveyors, roller conveyors, toothed belt conveyors or telescopic forks are applied as load handling devices. Dispenser The dispenser is designed to stack and unstack 12 standard pallets. The pallets can be supplied lengthwise or crosswise. For the desired transfer the roller conveyor and the chain conveyor can be assembled. There are various pallet dispenser types: The pneumatic dispenser is used for the food industry, the electrical version is used with focus on high-performance plants, and the hydraulic dispenser in spacesaving plants.
