European Union policy Trans-European transport network (TEN-T) TEN-T policy was established in 1996 for 15 EU Member States - Interconnection of the national transport infrastructure networks - Facilitation of the internal market as well as social and economic cohesion - Connection of the EU s network with third countries EU enlargements 2004 and 2007 required revision of the TEN-T policy, due to new political and economic conditions as well as ecological issues 24
