It answers the needs of vocational schools and training centers seeking a cost-effective mechatronics teaching solution in order to train skilled operators. The AMS reproduces the main steps of an industrial packaging line. Students learn about pneumatic distribution, filling, quality control, product sorting, storage and retrieval, network communication, and motor control sub-systems. In accordance with the SMSCP, the AMS includes hardware components required by this certification. The course material follows a system approach and covers the fields of electricity, mechanics, fluid power, and programmable logic controllers, as well as more advanced subjects. The AMS consists of a packaging station and a handling station. Each of these stations can operate independently or can be linked together to work as a whole in a complete, sequential process. Both stations are equipped with pneumatic, electrical, and fault panels. 3 Packaging Station Handling Station Features & Benefits Train mechatronics students to meet globally recognized industrial standards Meets all the hardware requirements for the SIEMENS Mechatronics Systems Certification Program (SMSCP). Curriculum is aligned with the SMSCP teaching method designed to keep students engaged, optimizing their understanding of the entire system. Provides 60 hours of laboratory divided between the four fields of the Level 1 certification (operator level), in addition to advanced subjects. Festo Didactic 3

4 Focus on teaching Accompanying lab material supports teachers during course planning. Each station comes pre-assembled, pre-wired, and pre-programmed and can be easily reset to factory settings. Work with real-world hardware components and recent technologies The system integrates recent technologies that students will encounter in their jobs, such as SIEMENS S PLC, SIEMENS Comfort Panel HMI, COGNEX In-Sight 7000 vision system, as well as three-phase and single-phase industrial conveyors, and servo motion controllers. Easily accessible terminal blocks simplify electrical signal measurement during troubleshooting. Integrate it in multiple pedagogical and lab settings The two stations can work independently or together. Connecting the stations together (mechanically and electrically) is quick and easy. The stations are wheeled and fit through a standard door. Each station can be sold separately. 6 Equipment Description PLC Software (Step 7 Professional) - 1 User The PLC Software (Step 7 Professional) is a programming software that is required for programming some programmable logic controllers. The following variants are available, each giving access to the Step 7 Professional software for a specified number of users. PLC Software (Step 7 Professional) - 1 User, Model 5939 PLC Software (Step 7 Professional) - 12 Users, Model 5939-A Specifications Parameter Software Features Computer Requirements Value Step 7 Professional Designed for SIMATIC controllers, Step 7 allows programming in LAD, FBD, and STL languages. It also includes tools for graphic and high-level language programming. A currently available personal computer Pentium type with RS-232 serial port, running under one of the Microsoft operating systems, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, is required. Packaging Station The purpose of the Packaging Station is to fill boxes with parts and verify the content before they are sent to the Handling station. The Packaging Station includes a control panel with emergency button, a rotary selector switch, three pushbuttons, and three indicator lights. It also includes a conveyor with two magazines and two pneumatic actuators, a filling station, a camera for quality control, and a sorting station. 6 Festo Didactic

The Handling Station includes a touchscreen human-machine interface with emergency button, a conveyor with two magazines and two pneumatic actuators, a cover distribution station, and a storage handling station. 10 Optional Equipment Description Air Compressor (Optional) 6410-C5 The Air Compressor is a quiet device well suited for classroom and school laboratories. The Air Compressor can be used to provide compressed air to different components. A conditioning unit, Model 6411-A, must be connected to the compressor for certain applications. The Circulator Pump is available in different variants depending on ac power network voltages and frequencies. Because of this, the actual module may vary from the one shown in the picture.
