2 Course Description Organizations increasingly find that they must rely on effective supply chains, or networks, to compete in the global market and networked economy. This course provides an overview of the key elements in the global supply chain management process. To provide a comprehensive foundation of SCM from its broad meaning and strategic implications, to operational concepts and techniques. This course covers arranging for transportation, and structure of ocean and air transport. Effective shipment planning in order to optimize transportation mode selection and routing of goods by the most cost effective methods; evaluation and selection of intermediaries, and understanding of international documentation required for global movement of products. Computer intensive methods are discussed and relevant software is introduced. Also mathematical foundations are covered. Case studies are presented.
