1 MONTHLY CONTAINER TRADE REPORT - Overseas Containers MONTHLY OVERSEAS CONTAINER TRADE UPDATE: OCTOBER 215 Overseas container trade October 215 Full overseas container imports Full overseas container exports Empty overseas container imports Empty overseas container exports overseas containers 7.6% 4.6% 4.7% 13.7% 7.8% 12,815 54,445 4,32 4,563 22,144 overseas container throughput (full + empty) for October was 22,144, this was an increase of 7.8% over October 214. (full + empty) overseas container imports for the month were up by 7.4% while total (full + empty) overseas container exports were also up by 8.3% in comparison to October 214. Full overseas container imports were 12,815, an increase of 7.6% against October last year. Several commodities most responsible for the monthly increase included metal manufactures, paperboards, plastic ware, vehicle parts, textiles, clothing, miscellaneous food preparations and domestic appliances. Commodities with the most notable declines were furniture, transport equipment, iron & steel and toys & sporting goods. Full overseas container exports were 54,445 for October 215 which was up 4.6% against October 214. Several commodities recorded gains for the month including wheat, paperboards, dairy products, zinc, oil seeds, timber and fresh fruit. Commodities with the most notable declines were meat, rice, glass & glassware, scrap metal and chemicals. Empty overseas container movements for October increased 12.8% over the same period last year to 44,884. Empty overseas exports increased 13.7% for the month, while empty overseas imports also increased by 4.7% against October 214.
