1 Installatin Instructins Mdels JR1 and JR2 1. General Infrmatin (see "Selectin" als): Steam Generatr Lcatin - The steam generatr shuld be lcated in a ventilated area utside f, but within 15 feet f the shwer r steam rm, where the steam pipes can be installed withut the pssibility f a steam trap. The steam generatr may be placed under the flr, in a clset, r any cnvenient lcatin where it WILL BE LEVEL, DRY, AND WILL NOT FREEZE in the winter. The steam generatr MUST be easily accessible shuld service be required in the future. INSTALL THE STEAM GENERATOR WITH THE COPPER STEAM PIPES COMING OUT OF THE TOP OF THE UNIT! Steam Pipes and Steam Heads (t and in the steam rm) - The steam pipes must be a minimum f 1/2" ID rigid cpper pipe between the steam generatr and the area t be steamed. Installing the steam pipes by the mst direct r shrtest rute (WITHOUT FORMING A STEAM TRAP) and by using the fewest number f elbws will, in mst instances, maintain a lwer pressure (less than 1 lb.) in the biler that will a lnger rute with many elbws. There is t be NO restrictin in the steam pipes between the steam generatr and the steam heads that wuld anyway cause pressure t build in the biler. During the final installatin, the steam heads supplied MUST be used. See "Steam Piping t the Steam Bath Area" and als CAUTIONS 1 and 3. Timer Switch (steam generatr cntrl) - The Quick Tuch Timer r ptinal prgrammable cntrl switch may be lcated utside r inside the steam rm. If using an ptinal timer cntrl, refer t that cntrl's instructins cncerning installatin. Relax-A-Mist timer switches are nt a precise timing device. See "CAUTION #11" Drain Valve Optin (ask fr details) -

2 A 3/4" cpper, female adapter (lcated under the water supply cnnectin), can be plumbed t a drain with either a manual shut ff r an autmatic drain valve, installed at the steam generatr (purchased separately). See figure Rugh In: Water Supply (accrding t lcal plumbing cde) - The water supply pipe shuld be equipped with a shut-ff that is accessible and clse t the steam generatr. Installatin f a water hammer arrestr (water bumper) is recmmended. T maintain a prper water level in the generatr, the water supply shuld have a minimum f 20 lb. pressure. If the water supply cntains impurities that culd build scale n r crrde the steam generatr, install apprpriate water treatment. See CAUTION #4 and WARRANTY POLICY. Drain Valve Optin - 3/4" rigid cpper piping must be installed frm the steam generatr lcatin t a drain. Ensure that all water is able t drain frm all sectins f the drain line at all times. Ask dealer fr autmatic drain details. Electrical - Watts, Wire and Fuse Sizes LR JR-1 JR-2 WATTS Hz VOLT Fuse/Breaker Size 20 amp 30 amp Cpper Wire - Supply #12 AWG #10 AWG Cpper Wire - Switch #22 AWG #22 AWG 240 VOLT Fuse/Breaker Size 20 amp 30 amp Cpper Wire - Supply #12 AWG #10 AWG Cpper Wire - Switch #22 AWG #22 AWG Check t ensure that the supply vltage (either208v r 240V) is cmpatible with the vltage listed n the steam generatr identificatin label. The fuses r circuit breaker must be f adequate size t carry the amperage necessary t perate the steam generatr. Select a cnvenient lcatin in the shwer area, within 20 feet f the steam generatr, 5 feet up frm the finished flr, away frm the area abve the steam head t install the Quick Tuch Timer (fund in the appliance electrical bx), and crd set packaged with steam unit. Cut a 7/8" hle in the wall material and pass the female end f the crd set thrugh the wall fr final installatin, OR, if the Prgrammable Cntrl is t be used (purchase separately), install a duble switch bx. ASK DEALER FOR DETAILS. There is ne "2 wire and grund" cable, class 1 wire, and ne factry supplied crd set class 2 wire t be run t the steam generatr: Run an electrical supply cable, 2 wire and grund f adequate gauge t carry the necessary amperage frm the fuse r circuit breaker t the steam generatr lcatin. Run the factry supplied crd set frm the steam generatr lcatin t the Quick Tuch Timer lcatin. Leave sufficient length at each end f crd set t facilitate the final installatin cnnectins. SEE CAUTION 8. THE ELECTRICAL "SUPPLY" FOR THE STEAM GENERATOR CANNOT BE SWITCHED DIRECTLY BY THE TIMER SWITCH SUPPLIED WITH THE STEAM GENERATOR.

3 The supply cable must be run directly t the steam generatr frm the fuse r circuit breaker. The factry supplied crdset must be run frm the steam generatr t the timer cntrl. The cntrl thrugh the class 2 vltage circuitry, activates a cntactr in the steam generatr. Steam Piping t Bath r Shwer (1/2" rigid cpper pipe required) - Install a 1/2" rigid cpper pipes (max 20 ft. each) frm the steam generatr t where it will enter the steam bath area. Install a unin n the steam pipes next t the steam generatr. Insulate the steam pipes fr maximum efficiency. The end f the steam pipes next t the steam bath area shuld each have a 1/2" female pipe thread fitting that is attached t smething slid, similar t the "wing back 90" elbw used t rugh-in a shwer head. Fr steam head lcatin purpses during rugh-in, install 1/2" irn pipe nipples int the tw female fittings (finger tight) s they will prtrude thrugh the wall int the steam bath area. After the finished walls are in place, the irn nipples are t be replaced by brass nipples the apprpriate length. See "Final Installatin" "Steam Piping" and Fig. 3 In a shwer stall, the center f the brass nipples and steam heads must be 12" abve the finished flr, in a psitin where the steam will nt burn anyne, prbably n the wall directly belw the shwer head. (see Fig. 4) If the steam head is installed t lw, the steam will hit the flr and cndense int the water befre it can heat and steam the rm. Als, installing the steam head in the lwer part f the rm ensures a mre even distributin f the steam and heat. It is nt recmmended t place the steam head under a bench, as there is a distinct pssibility that smene sitting n the bench culd inadvertently put their feet under it clse t the steam head, and be burned. Als, when the steam head is under a bench it is smetimes impssible fr the heat and steam cndensate t circulate thrugh the rm. In a bath tub, the steam head shuld be n the same level as the tub water sput and be in a psitin where it will nt burn anyne. Suggested lcatins wuld be: Where the water sput is n an end wall, install the steam head halfway between the water sput and the back wall. Where the water sput is n the lng back wall, install the steam head twards the end f the tub away frm the end where a persn wuld be sitting.

4 Care MUST be taken t AVOID A STEAM TRAP!. Water MUST be able t drain frm all sectins f the steam pipes at all times. SEE CAUTIONS 1 and 2, and als figure 6 abve. 3. Final Installatin: Water Supply (accrding t lcal plumbing cde) - The water inlet cnnectin n the steam generatr is a male garden hse fitting, with a swivel garden hse t 3/8" tubing adaptr supplied. The swivel adaptr will be a unin. Install a shutff n the water supply and reduce it t use 3/8" sft cpper tubing. Use 3/8" sft cpper tubing between the shutff and the swivel adaptr at the steam generatr. Frm a "lp" in the 3/8" sft cpper tubing t facilitate the biler installed level. See figure 7. Drain Valve Optin (accrding t lcal plumbing cde) - Install the shutff (purchased separately) within 1 ft. f the steam unit, between the 3/4" cpper female adaptr and a 3/4" swivel unin t the drain line. Fr the autmatic drain ptin, ask yur dealer fr details. Electrical - Check t ensure that the supply vltage (either 208V r 240V) is cmpatible with the vltage listed n the steam generatr identificatin label. Pull the rughed in supply cable (2 wires and grund) int the steam generatr electrical cnnectin bx and prceed with "a & b" as fllws; mve the cntrl crd set t the utside right f the electrical cnnectin bx and prceed with "c, d, & e" as fllws: 1.
