2 1. SCOPE: TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR G.I. BARBED WIRE (SPECIFICATION NO. M/I/G.I.BARBED WIRE/2006) The specification covers design, manufacture, shop testing, packing and delivery of G.I. Barbed wire by road/ rail in the State of Maharashtra. 2. SERVICE CONDITIONS: Equipment to be supplied against this specification shall be suitable for satisfactory continuous operation under the following tropical conditions. 2.1 Maximum ambient temperature (deg C) Maximum temperature in shade (deg C) Minimum temperature in air (deg C) in shade Relative Humidity (%) 10 to Maximum annual Rainfall (mm) Maximum Wind Pressure (kg/mm2) Maximum altitude above mean sea level (Meters) Isoceraunic level (days/year) Seismic level (Horizontal acceleration) 0.3 g Moderately hot and humid tropical climate, conducive to rust and fungus growth. 3. STANDARDS: Unless otherwise specified elsewhere in this specification, the rating as well as performance and testing of the G.I.Barbed wire shall conform to the latest revisions available at the time of placement of order of all the relevant standards but not limited to as listed below. 1) IS 278 / ) IS 4826 / ) IS 6594 / GENERAL TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: G.I. 3 Distance between two bars shall be 75 mm ( + 12 mm ). Wire shall be medium coated by Hot Dip Galvanization as per IS 4826 / 1979 with upto date amendments. However, other specific technical particulars shall be as per Annexure- I. 5. TESTING FACILITIES : The supplier / tenderer shall clearly state as to what testing facilities are available in the works of manufacturer and whether the facilities are adequate to carry out all the tests specified in the above IS Specifications. The facilities shall be provided by the bidder to employer s representative for witnessing the tests in the manufacturer s works. If any test cannot be carried out at manufacturer s works reason should be clearly stated in the tender. 6. PACKING : The wires shall be supplied in 40 to 60 kg per coil. The packing should be done in accordance with IS 6594 / 1977 or the latest versions thereof. However, the wire shall be supplied in coils ( and not in reels ). Each coils shall be suitably bound and fastened compactly and shall be protected by suitably wrapping. 7. SCHEDULES: 7.1 The tenderer shall fill in the following schedule which form part of the offer. Schedule `C' - Tenderer's Experience. 7.2 The tenderer shall submit the list of orders for similar type of equipments, executed or under execution during the last three years, with full details in the schedule of Tenderer's experience (Schedule `C') to enable the employer to evaluate the tender.
