5 SURCHARGE DETAILS BASIS CURRENCY AMOUNT TERMS & CONDITIONS of Detention, Demurrage & Terms apply unless otherwise agreed. Detention : the charge the merchant pays for detaining carrier's equipment outside the port, terminal or depot, beyond the free time. The period of detention will run from the day of pickup of empty container until the day on which the container is delivered at Terminal. Demurrage : the charge, related to the use of the equipment only, the merchant pays for carrier's equipment kept beyond the free time offered by the carrier for taking delivery of goods in the port, terminal or depot. The period of demurrage & storage will run right after delivery of container at Terminal until the day on which the container is loaded onto Vessel (calendar days counting). All local taxes / VAT are for account of the receiver. Demurrage and Detention do not include storage costs and reefer services which are charged to the merchant separately.
