AUTOMATED STORAGE SYSTEMS High bay racking for installation into warehouses or as Rack Supported Buildings The name SSI SCHAEFER is synonymous with high rise racking for automated warehouse installations. We install high bay pallet racking and automatic small parts stores (mini-load) for you, as well as custom warehouses for installation into halls or as roof and wall supporting silo constructions. Thanks to our precision manufacturing technology, and well-designed engineering, SSI SCHAEFER is one of the few suppliers of automatic storage systems able to realise pallet silos of a height of over 40 metres. As an experienced and reliable partner of renowned companies in all sectors of industry worldwide, we can help you realise your project potential. Our specialist teams develop customised solutions to measure. Take a tour of a reference system at one of our customers' sites! We would be pleased to arrange a visit.

Automated Storage Systems The difference between warehouses that are installed in a hall and what are known as silo systems is significant: With the silo design, the racking itself supports the substructure for the roof and facade. It is not necessary to construct a separate hall. The advantages of this type of construction are many and varied: Starting with shorter construction times as the roof and wall coverings can be fitted at virtually the same time as the racking is being assembled through to savings in the areas of constructing the foundations, building technology, as well as roof and facade areas. The higher the racking system, the more appropriate it is to implement a compact silo design. Overall, the construction of silo warehouses is generally much more cost-effective, for the reasons already mentioned. In addition, appealing depreciation opportunities make this type of warehouse a particularly attractive prospect. Which construction type is the optimum solution for you depends on various parameters and therefore needs to be analysed individually. We are available to help and advise you during this process. 4 AUTOMATED STORAGE SYSTEMS mini-load automated small parts storage The fully automated small parts storage system or mini-load operates on the "goods to picker" principle. Storage units of small parts are retrieved by computercontrolled, unmanned automatic storage and retrieval systems and delivered to the order-picking area or to a conveyor system feed. While the storage and retrieval system is in operation, the picker can order-pick from the goods supplied. Walking up and down in front of shelving and inefficient searching is a thing of the past. The storage and retrieval systems can be fitted with different tools to pull, grab or lift, depending on the solution. Our reference list includes a wide range of storage systems with equipment from all well-known manufacturers of storage and retrieval systems. You save time and increase safety levels thanks to the fact that we take into account all design-specific features of the corresponding type of storage and retrieval system. As a racking structure combined with made-to-measure load carriers, we offer you a cost-effective range of products. From different container variants through to different tray designs, all load carriers are manufactured by SSI SCHAEFER, without exception. We will be happy to advise. Contact us now! I2

AUTOMATED STORAGE SYSTEMS Details and an overview benefits of a group The automation company group at SSI SCHAEFER is a leading specialist for planning, designing and implementing projects for efficient intralogistics. With a comprehensive range of products designed specificially to match the needs of the marketplace, we create made-tomeasure logistics solutions. This means that we guarantee the efficiency, optimisation and costeffectiveness of our customers specific business processes in the long term. Defined interfaces for the solution components also provide a significant degree of flexibility and forms the basis for solutions that grow as needs dictate, all conforming to the latest technological standards from individual systems through to complex systems. The support, expertise, synergies and power of innovation provided by the group brand of SSI SCHAEFER also provides a complete range of products and services in one place, reliability and availability of systems, rapid project implementation, in particular when managing projects as a general contractor and long-term security of investment. The basis for the logistics solutions is formed by products which are planned, developed, manufactured and implemented at SSI SCHAEFER itself. This provides a significant degree of flexbility in every project phase for every detail of a customer-oriented solution at any location in the world. I4

Automation Highly dynamic picking systems and automated equipment Low space requirements with minimal access times, flexible integration with other warehouse systems and modular combination of tried and tested system components form the basis of efficient, automated warehouse logistics. The racking and materials handling technology from SSI SCHAEFER is designed for these picking strategies. This means that customised solutions can be implemented which are tailored to the customer s individual requirements down to the finest detail. Innovative logistics solutions such as SCS (Schaefer Carousel System), SQS (Schaefer Quad System) and the AKL (automated small parts system) are designed specifically for the tasks in highly dynamic logistics processes and warehouse areas. 8 AUTOMATED STORAGE SYSTEMS Fully automatic order picking system In the shape of the SCP (Schaefer Case Picking), SSI SCHAEFER offers a continuous, fully automatic concept for the store-specific order picking of tray-based product units: From goods-in to depalletising, buffering, order picking, sequencing and palletisation through to goods-out. Without additional, standard market identification systems such as barcodes or transponders but with numerous benefits offering fundamentally new approaches to increasing efficiency and thus cost-effectiveness in the entire logistics chain. Handling technology With a variety of standard components with a modular design that can be combined with one another and extended as required, SSI SCHAEFER offers a comprehensive range of conveyor systems starting with conveyor technology for containers and cartons, to the conveying of pallets, down to fully automatic storage and retrieval devices for high bay racking systems. The conveyor technology is customised specifically for the requirements of performance, travel and lifting speeds, clearance height as well as load, and made-to-measure specifically for the applications. 9 Automation Order picking robots SSI SCHAEFER has developed the first fully automatic picking cell that can be integrated seamlessly into existing warehouse architecture. The Robo-Pick achieves performance levels of over 2000 picks/hour and thanks to its special features, is particularly appealing to wholesalers and mail order companies. An innovative, two-stage image processing system automatically recognises the position of the products on the tray and controls the universal picking robot. The picture processing cell identifies 4 to 6 pickable products in under a second "at a glance". Picking systems The specially designed combination of automation and staff deployment provides optimum efficiency during order picking. To guarantee order picking quality in semi-automated and paperless picking systems, modern, ergonomically designed technology ensures the targeted direction of staff, short storage access times and reliable delivery quality. With the mobile User Interface (UIM), SSI SCHAEFER offers wireless applications, pickby-light and voice-controlled systems with hardware-independent user dialogues. I7

AUTOMATED STORAGE SYSTEMS IT made to measure With its Warehouse Management Systems, SSI SCHAEFER provides the IT framework for the efficient control and transparency of all operative processes in intralogistics. The modern, sector-specific system architecture as well as its consistent user orientation, are reflected in the modular design of the system and the diversity in available user interfaces and control panels. To control the different order picking systems, there are intelligent solutions available in manual operation (using RF, Pick-by-Voice) and in automatic sectors (Schaefer Case Picking, Mercury, "Goods to man" order picking). Standardised system modules are the result of the comprehensive Automation technology As little automation as possible, as much automation as required. Consistent availability and reliability of the system components are essential for implementing this golden rule of intralogistics. In combination with the software used, the automated solutions ensure coordinated process workflows and reliability, even in continuous operation. Integrating the latest electronic and control technologies permits the implementation of efficient transport and conveyor processes, as well as the interaction and coordination between all conveyor technology components. Using comprehensive visualisation tools which are largely intuitive and self-explanatory, the material flow system forms the utilisation level of the system components at any data complexity level. This means that the processes in incoming goods and outgoing goods handling, feed supply or preparation for shipping can be displayed at a glance and any intervention required can be initiated in good time.
