Ship Efficiency: The Event 2016 Fathom Maritime Intelligence Going Green as Sustainable Business Strategy Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA /// November 2016 Iver Iversen, Director New Technology and Regulatory affairs

> Ship Efficiency Green Visions Environmental Frontrunner & Zero Emission Future E/S Orcelle (2005) Castor Green (2009) High Efficiency = Going Green 2

> Ship Efficiency - Organisation Wilhelmsen and Wallenius merge to form world-leading shipping and logistics platform Substantial efficiency improvement expected from better utilisation of the combined fleets. 3

> Wilh.Wilhelmsen ISO Energy Policy Our common vision is to improve operations continuously by seeking to reduce our energy consumption both in our office activities and onboard our vessels, and thereby contribute positively to the global environment. We will promote a proactive approach towards relevant stakeholders related to energy efficiency and work together with them to explore and develop design/technological and operational solutions enabling us to reduce our energy consumption. We will take a proactive role in ensuring compliance with all relevant energy and environmental regulatory requirements affecting our operations. Top level management will ensure that all necessary information, training and resources are made available for all employees to fulfil their tasks in accordance with this policy. The procurement process shall take into account the availability of energyefficient products and services. We shall have a regularly reviewed energy program as part of the process in setting energy saving objectives and targets. 4

> Ship Efficiency - Operational ISO implementation Objectives & Goal Systematic and continuous approach towards energy management > Plan & Identify areas of improvement > Implement and monitor progress of actions taken > Set targets and review plans & objectives > Include energy efficiency in purchasing processes 5

6 > ISO 50001: Energy Management System

7 > Wilh.Wilhelmsen Energy Planning

> Implementation & Operation Operational Control where it gets complex (and fun!): 8

> Implementation & Operation What are the key drivers for successful implementation? Strong commitment from involved stakeholders Competence, training & awareness Communication Documentation & follow up i.e Baselines Operational Control 9

> Checking & Monitoring Need for systematic approach and review Performance Monitoring & Analysis Improved voyage planning Weather Routing Speed Optimisation Slow steaming Just in time Design and design review Optimized Trim & Ballast Improved cargo handling Optimum propeller inflow considerations Hull Maintenance & Biofouling management Optimum rudder and heading control Electrical energy management Engine(s) optimization Waste heat recovery 10

> How do we act? Several projects on-going on continuous basis Main drivers for avoiding biofouling; Antifouling Selection Boiler & heat optimization project Slow steaming instructions & document package Solar Panels on MV Toreador Integration and Roll-out of OptiBallast Propulsive energy Reduction of Heat energy production Propulsive & Voyage based energy consumption Reduction of F.O as energy Propulsive energy reduction 11

12 > Ship Efficiency Operation

> Design and design review Several projects on-going on continuous basis 13

> Ship Efficiency Environmental Initiatives The Trident Alliance is a coalition of shipping owners and operators who share a common interest in robust enforcement of maritime sulphur regulations and are willing to collaborate to help bring it about. <0.1% sulphur or equivalent at berth in all ports All vessels, in all ports, all the time Focus on high impact changes Implementation through scrubbers or fuel option as of March 1 st Hybrid scrubbers installed on 5 ships 2. Testing Fuel emulsion together with scrubber 3. Considering to replace all lights (2400 per ship) with LED. 14

> Benefits to WW and Operating Entities Continuous focus on Energy Management anchored on a high level in the organisation Drive to reduce energy consumption in the value chain, whether that is from vessel or purchasing point of view Reduced energy use translates to reduced emissions, contributing in line with the environmental standing of the Organisation Reduced energy consumption can drive down operating cost and positively affect the Organisations bottom line Operating entities have backing on a high level and a systematic way of working, monitoring and implement projects and measures to reduce energy consumption 15

> The High Efficiency RoRo carrier is the newest, most modern vessel type in our fleet Optimization of hull, engine and propeller across different drafts and speeds Scrubbers reduce Sulphur and NOx emissions as well as particulates 16

> Thank you!
