3 LATEST LOGISTICS AND FORWARDING NEWS FRANCE A new service by CMA CGM covering ports in North East Asia, Australia and New Zealand The French shipping company CMA CGM will start a new service as from the beginning of November in partnership with China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL), Orient Overseas Container Lines (OOCL) and Pacific International Lines (PIL). It will replace the current ANZEX / NZN service operated jointly by CMA CGM & OOCL. Seven vessels of an average capacity of TEU will offer a new weekly service that will turnaround in 49 days. It will offer port coverage in North East Asia and New Zealand, including a stop-over in Australian port on the way from Asia. Air France-KLM Group will further reduce its fleet of all-cargo planes Initially, Air France-KLM Group wanted to reduce its fleet of all-cargo planes to 2 in Paris and 8 in Amsterdam by the year However, due to the continued low demand for air freight, Air France-KLM Group now plans to stop operating even more freighters and to use a total of only 5 all-cargo planes by the end of The Ocean Three alliance may start operating as from early December The French shipping group CMA CGM has established a partnership with China Shipping and United Arab Shipping Co. to form the Ocean Three alliance. They intend to offer joint services as from early December of this year.

4 INDIA US $ 2 billion to be invested in a power plant in Odisha The private electricity producer Adani Group plans to invest US $ 2 billion to build a megawatts power plant in Odisha. The group will need from the government about acres of land to set up the new plant. Coal will be sourced from Odisha. Electricity will be generated from 25 million tonnes of coal per year when the power plant will be running at its full capacity. Gap to enter the Indian market The United States fashion retailer Gap will enter the Indian market through a partnership with Arvind Lifestyle Brands, a subsidiary of the jeans manufacturer Arvind Ltd. Gap expects to open 40 stores across India over the next five years. The first two stores will be operational as from May 2015 in Mumbai and Delhi. The apparel market of India is estimated to be around US $ 40 billion a year and might grow to US $ 60 billion by year Shift of container traffic from road to sea in Goa In Goa, a feeder vessel has recently entered in operation, enabling a shift of container traffic from road to sea. The feeder vessel transports Goa s imports and exports especially pharmaceutical products between Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) and Maharashtra's Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). Previously, the containers were loaded on trucks and had to cover 800 km by road to reach JNPT.

5 MADAGASCAR Exports of mangrove crabs prohibited up to the 31st October 2014 The authorities have prohibited the exportation of the mangrove crabs from Madagascar, Scylla serrata, since the 1 st September and up to the 31 st October A decision taken to put an end to the overexploitation of this resource. During the first six months of 2014, 623 tons of frozen crabs and more than tons of live crabs had been exported from Madagascar. A joint-venture for Air Madagascar? To renew its fleet of airplanes, Air Madagascar might enter into a jointventure with a foreign air company. According to the press, a company is willing to allocate four planes to enable Air Madagascar improve its domestic network and service the region of Maroantsetra in the North-East of Madagascar. 6 MAURITIUS Imports of fresh mangoes from India will be allowed from May to August Imports of fresh mangoes from India by Mauritian fruits distributors, are expected to increase following the signature of a protocol between the Ministry of Agro-Industry of Mauritius and the Ministry of Agriculture of India. Phyto sanitary conditions have been established. The protocol will be applicable every year during the off-season for mangoes in Mauritius, from May to August. However, the mangoes will have to be sourced from officially registered orchards in India. Fresh seedless grapes, apples, pears, peaches, prunes and citrus fruits are already imported by Mauritius from India. According to the Centre for Promotion of Investment (CPI) of Mozambique, strong opportunities exist in sectors such as construction, mining and petroleum. The government of Mozambique is looking for South African expertise to extend its public infrastructure, especially its rail sector. MSC will apply a Bunker Contribution on all southbound cargo from the Adriatic and West Mediterranean to Mozambique The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will apply as from the 1 st October 2014, with the vessel MSC Maureen NZ439A or a substitute vessel which will leave Antwerp, a Bunker Contribution (BUC) on all cargo moving southbound from the Adriatic and West Mediterranean to Mozambique and South Africa. The BUC will be of US $ 535 per TEU for standard containers and of US $ 715 per TEU for reefer containers. Maintenance dredging of the quays at Maputo The maintenance dredging of the quays of the port of Maputo will begin by October 2014 to ensure that the quays return to their original depth of 13.7 metres. Vessels of more than 65,000 tonnes can cast their anchor at the port of Maputo.
