Industry Services Extended Machine Contracts for Manufacturing Excellence Technology-based services for a greater competitive edge Minimum downtime and the optimum use of staff and resources are key to sustainable success in industry. Siemens provides the basis for greater productivity, flexibility, and efficiency with technology-based services throughout the lifecycle of an industrial plant reliably, globally, and around the clock. In-depth technology and product knowledge as well as industry expertise within Siemens global network of experts ensure a considerable competitive edge. The challenge: Increased machine productivity with minimized maintenance costs Maximum machine availability has the very highest priority. In order to guarantee efficient operation, it is equally important to minimize failure times as it is to ensure shortest possible downtimes and plannable maintenance intervals. At the same time, maintenance and repair costs should be transparent and calculable so as to optimize the costefficiency of a machine or system. Siemens Manufacturing Excellence provides services that are perfectly matched to all different requirements and contributes significantly to planning security, cost reduction and transparency, thereby increasing machine or system productivity. Answers for industry.

Customer Fault message Response time Clarification Bid/ confirmation Travel time Work duration Problem solved gelöst Fault Downtime without service contract Fault message Response time Clarification Travel time Work duration Problem solved Downtime with service contract Less downtime! Less downtime with a service contract up to 48 hours! educed machine downtime risk! with known maintenance budget! Optimized process with a service contract Individual services to secure machine availability Individual service contracts at a fixed price The Extended Machine Contracts package covers contractually agreed services which are individually tailored to all kinds of different project requirements, and specified as a flat rate in a service agreement. Siemens Industry Services thus offers customized solutions for machine and system maintenance and for reducing the risk of machine downtimes. Application area In these individually negotiated contracts, Siemens and the machine and system operator together assemble maintenance concepts from the following modules: preventive measures, repair, access to Siemens service personnel with defined response times, service intervals, and spare parts logistics/ management. Here, Siemens covers the cost risk by billing services at flat rates (contractual costs) with the object of providing efficient, customized maintenance support. The machine operator does not bear any risks, and can rely on high machine availability. Under the joint agreement Siemens ensures access to qualified service engineers for on-site troubleshooting and professional spare parts logistics. Your benefits: Individualized services at a fixed price The advantages of flat rate billing for services are: Security of planning, reduced costs and transparency of costs Higher productivity thanks to minimal downtimes Service packages tailored to requirements Supplementing and relieving the service personnel at the manufacturer or end user Access to the worldwide service structure of Siemens Product marketing new parts, replacement parts Product lifecycle Phase-out phase replacement parts, repairs, replacement process Machine lifecycle Siemens service concepts adapted to the machine lifecycle End customer (machine user) Machine manufacturer (OEM) / dealers / distributors End of lifecycle Support 2

Spare part Replacement Repair Supplementary Supply of spare parts Standard supply Immediate supply Emergency service 24 h / 365 d Parts are exchanged on a replacement basis Spare parts supply as standard, immediate or emergency service Return of the defective part Repairs performed Normal repair Fast repair Function repair Supplementary services Component upgrade service General overhaul > = 1 machine / system Check Return of diagnostics parts Extended spare parts availability The Lifecycle Check provides a comprehensive analysis of spare parts availability Lifecycle Check our standard for an optimized spare parts strategy Increased productivity intelligent spare parts management Siemens Industry Services provides comprehensive answers to questions about security and maintaining machine productivity, for example: Can the customer expect to be able to simply obtain a spare part or have a repair made? Do spare parts need to be stored on site? Can the stock of spare parts be reduced? Are there upgrade options? How long can machines and systems be kept in operation using spare parts, repair, replacement or upgrade? What do spares or upgrade parts cost? Overview of the services offered by Siemens Industry Services: Acquisition of all modules in your machine/system which have control or drive-relevance The acquired modules are analyzed with respect to their availability as spare/replacement or repair part. Information about estimated phase-out and discontinuation dates and possible follow-on types is collected and recorded in a report. Support for optimum spare parts strategy: Demand-based ordering of the Siemens spare parts service Optimization of customer s spare parts inventory (stock reduction) Buyback of spare parts that are no longer needed Punctual availability of upgrades Definition of follow-on solutions / general overhaul The benefit: Increased productivity and cost transparency The Siemens Lifecycle Check permanently increases the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of machines and systems. The advantages at a glance: Increased productivity because machine outages are rare Optimized spare parts supply keeps downtimes to a minimum Reduction in asset and warehousing costs Use of the Siemens spare parts service You only store selected spare parts on site Reduce stocks of superfluous parts Extension of the machine/system lifecycle Installation of suitable follow-on types 3

Health Check one-time inspection for SINUMERIK machine tools The all-inclusive package for machines and systems With the Health Check, Siemens Industry Services offers a service package comprising: Inspection Data back-up Maintenance Lifecycle Check The benefit: Increased productivity through services from Siemens Industry Services With an annual Health Check, Siemens increases the productivity of machines or systems through high availability and at the same time optimizes spare parts availability and ensures fast repair. Siemens is the expert for machine and system equipment and offers an all-inclusive package with the following services: Documentation of item numbers Checking spare parts availability Generation of a data backup Replacement of fans and buffer batteries Checking filters and operator control elements Recommendations for solutions An overview of the Health Check services from Siemens: Inspection Control components such as fans and operator control elements are checked in a defined way. The system operator receives a status report. Data back-up All the control and drive-relevant data for the machine is saved and transferred to the machine operator for professional and secure archiving. If data is lost, this data backup enables the machine to be recommissioned without delay. Maintenance Siemens performs defined maintenance work including inspection and data back-up for the CNC control and everything associated with it to increase the availability of machines (e.g. checking and replacing fans and batteries). The machine operator receives a maintenance report. Lifecycle Check Siemens documents the machine and system data and all of the control and drive-relevant modules on site. The spare parts analysis based on this shows the availability of spare parts. For critical or discontinued components, recommendations are given for replacement parts and solutions based on follow-on products. Service-relevant documentation is checked to ensure that it is available. The machine operator is provided with an analysis report. 4

Current range of contracts Machine lifecycle Machine manufacturer s liability for defects Replacement of material Liability for defects Extension of the period for replacement of material Staff incl. personnel services and travel costs Additional services RSC (Repair Service Contract) LSC (Local Service Contract) Customers Machine manufacturers & dealers Machine operators Customer-compliant applications Flexible and plannable tailored to individual requirements Efficient securing of machine availability with no cost risks Siemens Industry offers two contract variants, a Repair Service Contract and a Local Service Contract a real win-win situation for every machine! Repair Service Contract (RSC) After-sales service at flat rates Developed specifically for machine manufacturers and dealers, it offers after-sales service at the machine installation site at flat rate prices. End users protect themselves for a period of time of their choice against the labor and material replacement costs incurred when troubleshooting Siemens products after the second commissioning. The labor services cover: provision of service engineers fault diagnostics resolving the fault Local Service Contract (LSC) The modular preventive program This modular, customized service contract for machine users ensures the availability of machine tool and production systems and makes a crucial contribution to efficient production.
