Quick start solution for global serialization L-A-W Services GmbH produces more than 100 different medications in various pack sizes for country markets throughout the world. In order to securely serialize this diverse mix, L-A-W S was looking for a solution that dealt economically with the data generated. Two curved staircases lead up to the second floor where a pharmaceutical library is located, completely paneled in dark wood. In the former management office, male and female forms adorn the door handles. Leipziger Arzneimittelwerk is characterized by art nouveau décor, which reflects the style of construction prevalent in 1926 when the factory at Leipzig-Paunsdorf was built. The old building demands a certain amount of flexibility from the company. To set up the required purity classes and clean rooms, we had to install enclosures and dedicated blister rooms in the production hall, recounts Dr. Torsten Brand. The PhD chemist has worked at L-A-W S for ten years and is responsible for cleanliness validation in quality assurance. Around 100 employees produce medication, dietary supplements and cosmetics here. In addition, G+D always reacted quickly to requests and as a medium-sized company it was a meeting of equals. As a result, L-A-W S decided in May 2016 to employ the SeriTrack solution. Implementation was completed in just two on-site appointments. G+D set up a connection to the OCS serialization machine and ensured that the existing line management solution took serial numbers from the pool independently. In five days the system was up and running, explained Brand, and continued: SeriTrack really is a quick start solution that can be implemented in two weeks. 4 TESTING INTEGRATION INTO THE PRODUCTION LINE Brand and his team then set up a pilot line and tested it with various formats. After just a short time it was evident that all the components worked together perfectly and Seri- Track was intuitive to operate. Finally, they connected the first customer, GALENpharma and the first production run took place in June Everything went according to plan even as far as sending the custom-tailored report and the serialization data to be passed on to the national verification system. All in all SeriTrack was integrated easily into our production processes, Brand summed up. In the same way, the team will incorporate eight other pharmaceutical companies with different serialization requirements. We can now say with a clear conscience that we have got serialization under control, said Brand. Brand reviews test results.
