10 Technology in Transportation A vehicle tracking system is a tool used to manage a mobile service workforce more effectively and profitably, improving operational control & safety. It not only helps in locating vehicle but also help us to monitor drivers behaviour behind the wheel. It helps to monitor vehicle Speed, hard braking, acceleration, Route deviation, Continuous driving, and several other parameters. Inaugurated on 8 th Dec 2008, the Fleet control room is manned by 5 people operating 24X7. They are primarily devoted to the study of drivers behavior. FCR mainly focus on Real Time Tracking Speed Monitoring Curfew Hrs Monitoring Deceleration & Acceleration Monitoring Geo-fencing Customer & Route Track Route Violations Vehicle Duty/ Driving Hours Two-way communication with vehicle /Drivers Harsh braking/ Over Speed/Accident - Alert ETA at Destination- NSC Exception report Vehicle wise performance report Driver Competency Development High, Medium & Low Risk Driver categorization Trip UP Load Detention at Customer end

11 Technology in Transportation Benefits obtained from Dual cab camera. 1) Check that drivers keep the internal & Local traffic rules. 2) In case of violation such as deceleration driver is counseled by showing the video 3) Find hazards regarding customer stes from the video 4) All drivers keep caution while driving. 5) Helped us immensely in changing the behavior of new co2 drivers.

18 Conclusion After all the challenges faced on road during transportation, we need to establish a standard for the transport industry. To stabilize and reduce the forecasted level of traffic fatalities we need to increase activities at national levels. We need to demand more for better infrastructural development as well as investment in human capital; i.e Drivers may be for a price. Investments should include: Strengthening road architecture. Proper resting place with parking place for drivers. Training institute for driving and safety. Vehicle with standardized driver cabin to reduce fatigue of driver Our challenge is to move forward zero fatalities and serious injury collisions where the price of mobility is not death or disability but enhanced comfort level for our DRIVERS.

19 Need to Set Standard Proper selection & recruitment of Driver. Proper selection of vehicle as per load No over loading Pre & Post trip of vehicle Proper rest of drivers. Proper maintenance of vehicle Use of original spare parts Vehicle with standardized driver cabin to reduce fatigue of driver Use of seat belt Yearly health check up of drivers Infrastructural Support Heavy vehicle training institute Hazardous training institute Proper resting place with parking place
