What is this course about? 1.1 Course description Supply chain management is vitally important for retailers and has been noted as the source of success for many retailers and as an inhibitor of success for e-tailers as they struggle with delivery reliability. In this course you will examine how retailers understand their customers preferences and respond with appropriate products through effective supply chain management. 1.2 Course content Retail supply chain definitions The consumer in a retail supply chain Retail formats and structures Omni-channel retailing Channel integration Profitability and financial performance Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Retail inventory management POS/RFID technologies Ecommerce platform Food supply chains 2. 3 Page 3 Assessment Task 1: Retail supply chain map Goal: The purpose of this task is to assess that you have acquired an understanding of basic sustainability and risk management concepts. Product: Short document including the illustration and description of a retail supply chain s product, process, information and financial flows (2-3 pages). Format: This is an individual paper Criteria Organisation and structure of document Visualisation of basic supply chain concepts and related areas of analysis. Application of theory in the context of a retail supply chain. Communication and presentation Generic skill assessed Skill assessment level Communication Assessment Task 2: Case presentation Goal: As part of a team, present the results from the analysis of selected retail supply chain issues. Apply and evaluate core principles/concepts and techniques used in retail supply chain management and procurement. Product: Case analysis presentation Format: Group presentation Criteria Use of presentation skills, tools and visual aids Delivery of a business case analysis based on relevant principles, concepts and techniques Communication of results Demonstration of ability to work with a team Generic skill assessed Skill assessment level Problem solving Organisation Assessment Task 3: Case Report Goal: Building on Task 2, the purpose of this task is to demonstrate individually a more comprehensive analysis and understanding of retail supply chain management issues. Product: Report Format: This is an individual assessment Criteria Address follow-up questions relating to the retail supply chain presented in the group and demonstrate: Organisation or structure of report Application of relevant theory to the case Presentation of summary of findings Communication and presentation Generic skill assessed Skill assessment level Problem solving 5.3 Additional assessment requirements Plagiarism In order to minimise incidents of plagiarism and collusion, this course may require that some of its assessment tasks, when submitted to Blackboard, are electronically checked through SafeAssign. This software allows for text comparisons to be made between your submitted assessment item and all other work that SafeAssign has access to.

4 Page 4 Eligibility for Supplementary Assessment Your eligibility for supplementary assessment in a course is dependent of the following conditions applying: a) The final mark is in the percentage range 47% to 49.4% b) The course is graded using the Standard Grading scale c) You have not failed an assessment task in the course due to academic misconduct 5.4 Submission penalties Late submission of assessment tasks will be penalised at the following maximum rate: 5% (of the assessment task s identified value) per day for the first two days from the date identified as the due date for the assessment task. 10% (of the assessment task s identified value) for the third day 20% (of the assessment task s identified value) for the fourth day and subsequent days up to and including seven days from the date identified as the due date for the assessment task. A result of zero is awarded for an assessment task submitted after seven days from the date identified as the due date for the assessment task. Weekdays and weekends are included in the calculation of days late. To request an extension you must contact your course coordinator to negotiate an outcome. 6.
