Please also indicate your preferred work location(s) for the postion(s) in which you are interested, by using 1 to indicate your first choice, 2 as your second choice, 3 as your third choice, etc. POSTING # Construction Services & Materials Materials Unit Materials The Bureau of Materials is responsible for the testing of construction materials, conducted in NJDOT's Headquarters Laboratory, the inspection of fabricated materials at the point of manufacture, and the independent assurance testing of regional materials testing. The Bureau of Materials is also responsible for providing materials specification and testing expertise for the Department and the administration of computer software for the management of projects. POSTING # Construction Services and Materials Construction Management The Construction Management Unit is responsible for setting standards for safety, monitoring compliance through inspections, publishing construction manuals, record keeping of project information, and the independent review of construction projects for federal compliance. This office also monitors claims at the Claims Committee level, and provides support for the selection of consultants to provide inspection services. Regional Construction Services Various (see below) Engineers in Regional Construction are assigned to a construction project, and report to the construction project site for the duration of the project. There, they work under a Resident Engineer to monitor the Contractor's work to ensure the work is compliant with the project's plans and specifications. Engineers in Regional Construction also work with the project designer to resolve problems arising from field conditions. They administer the construction contract, authorize contractor payments, and resolve contractor claims. Engineers in Regional Materials are either assigned to a Field Team and perform the on - site concrete and soils testing for several construction projects, or are assigned to concrete and asphalt plant quality assurance during the production of materials. 2 POSTING # Highway & Traffic Design Roadway Design Field Survey Unit Mt. Arlington Responsible for the oversight, administration, and production of in - house design projects in support of the Capital Program. Types of highway improvement projects would involve resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation work, intersection improvements, widening, ramps, new alignment, pedestrians, sign structures, bridge deck or superstructure replacements and bridge replacements. Roadway Design Group 1 & 2 Responsible for the oversight, administration, and production of in - house design projects in support of the Capital Program. CADD Development & Support Unit The primary purpose of the CADD Development & Support Unit is to develop and maintain CADD standards for the Department s CADD system, provide general CADD user support (Help desk); provide interagency and consultant coordination; develop and maintain CADD training and reference manuals and conduct in - house training for engineering (In - Roads) and drafting (MicroStation) applications. Pavement & Drainage Unit The Pavement and Drainage Management Unit is responsible for preparing pavement designs for in - house design projects, reviewing and approving pavement designs prepared by consultants for both capital and developer projects, reviewing pavement and drainage field conditions and preparing recommendations for remediation, evaluating and implementing new pavement and drainage engineering technologies and using and maintaining pavement and drainage management systems and software applications. Traffic Engineering Unit The Traffic Engineering unit within Highway & Traffic Design provides Traffic Engineering and Electrical Engineering design and support. The unit conducts design reviews of Capital Program Management projects, prepares traffic signal plans and timings, designs signing and pavement markings, highway/sign lighting, and traffic control plans for detours and stages construction for in - house design efforts. It also conducts reviews of Traffic Impact Studies, Concept Plans and Construction Plans for Developer Access Applications. The unit negotiates intersection improvements and fair share monies. Unit also works closely with the resident engineers to provide traffic engineering support during construction projects. It is responsible for collecting crash data, vehicle turning movement and pedestrian counts to facilitate new or revised traffic signal designs to be built by maintenance.

3 POSTING # Right of Way (ROW) & Access Management Major Access Permits The Division of Right of Way and Access Management (ROWAM) is responsible for acquiring and taking possession of Real Estate for transportation purposes in support of the delivery of the Capital Program. Right of Way Acquisition includes property appraisals, appraisal registration, acquisition through bona fide negotiations, the eminent domain process (condemnation), if necessary, relocation of families and businesses, title clearances and closings. As the real estate arm of the Department, the Division provides related services to other areas within the Department. Right of Way has the oversight responsibility for Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in providing Right of Way clearance letters to municipalities and counties for Federally Funded projects administered through the Department s Local Aid Units. Access Design & Right of Way (ROW) ROWAM regulates highway access through a permitting process, in accordance with the New Jersey State Highway Access Management Code. ROWAM implements the Access code with regards to adjustment, modification, and revocation of access permits and driveways required by Department projects and provides input for the preparation of access documents. Also, ROWAM regulates and issues permits for Outdoor Advertising in conformance with State law and the federal agreement. The Division through Outdoor Advertising assists in improving statewide communications systems by making DOT properties available for wireless communications infrastructures through Master Agreements with carriers and site licenses.

4 POSTING # Capital Program Support Capital Program Support The Division of Capital Program Support provides engineering and administrative support to Capital Program Management along with implementing various work programs for the Department. The major function of the division is to help the Department design projects for deliverability. This requires engineering support during all phases of project development - Planning/Concept Development, Preliminary Engineering, Final Design, and during Construction. POSTING # Project Management Project Management The Division of Project Management consists of four teams, each of which are responsible for a specific geographic area of the State. The Division has the overall responsibility for the delivery of all assigned capital projects on schedule, within budget and of high quality from concept development through the completion of construction. These teams are at the center of the project management team approach, working and directing the activities of other specialized units both internal and/or external to the Division of Project Management. This includes coordination during Concept Development phase, oversight of the design consultant selection and agreement process, managing both in-house and consultant design, managing Preliminary Engineering & Final Design phases, oversight of the construction contractor bid and award, and managing the project through construction closeout.

5 POSTING # Bridge Engineering & Infrastructure Management Bureau of Structural and Railroad Engineering Service Structural Value Solutions The Bureau of Structural and Railroad Engineering Service's Structural Value Solutions Unit is responsible for providing engineering support in the determination of a project's final scope of work; conducting quality assurance review on all capital projects, that will result in quality improvements based on function, cost and value. The unit reviews value engineering construction proposals and assists, as required, in the review of policies and standards. Bureau of Structural and Railroad Engineering Service Railroad Diagnostics Team The Bureau of Structural and Railroad Engineering Service's Diagnostic Team Management Unit is responsible for providing safe and effective railroad crossings statewide through administration of the annual Grade Safety Inspection Program and the annual Rail - Highway Construction Program Structural Design & Geotechnical Engineering Structural Design The Structural Design Unit provides structural design services for the in-house Department projects. These services include the design and preparation of structural contract documents, quality assurance reviews, construction shop drawing reviews, technical input during scope development, and technical advice for the resolution of construction field problems. This unit also provides quality assurance reviews for design of bridges, culverts, noise walls, retaining walls, and other miscellaneous structures on projects designed by consultants. These design projects could be on the State Highway System, on county or local highways, or New Jersey Transit facilities. Additionally, this unit provides technical input on unique design projects and provides constructability reviews for all structural design projects when required.

6 POSTING # Multimodal Services (Grants & Programs) Grants & Programs Bureau of Multimodal Grants & Programs (MGaP) manage and administer programs within NJDOT s Division of Multimodal Services in supporting the safe, efficient, economical and environmentally sensitive transportation of people and goods through a statewide multi - modal transportation system. The bureau administers NJDOT s Airport Improvement Program that provides financial assistance to improve and preserve general aviation airport and facilities, and promotes aviation and aviation safety. The bureau also provides funding for capital improvements that result in continuation of economical viable rail freight services POSTING # Multimodal Services (Maritime) Maritime OMR promotes coordination and cooperation among state, federal, regional and non - governmental agencies as well as managing the State Channel Dredging Program maintaining navigable channels. Critical to the dredging program is the development of dredged material management solutions and opportunities. OMR conducts public education on maritime and marine issues, and serves as the State s lead organization for support of New Jersey's $50 billion maritime industry which includes ports and terminals, safe harbor operations, cargo movement, boat manufacturing and sales, ferry operations, government services, marine trades, recreational and commercial boating and maritime environmental resources. OMR manages two Federal grant programs: the FHWA Ferry Boat Program and the USDOI National Boating Infrastructure Grant Program. OMR supports technology research and development ensuring a balance between development and protection of the ecosystem advocating and the continued development and growth of the Marine Transportation System. POSTING # Statewide Planning Statewide Planning The Safety, Bicycle & Pedestrian Programs in the Division of Statewide Planning is responsible for managing New Jersey s Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). The goal of the program is to achieve a significant reduction in traffic fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads, including non -State owned public roads. Safety Programs is also responsible for providing support with crash analysis and statistical data for internal and external customers. In addition, Safety Programs provides subject matter expertise for various projects in the State s Capital Program.

7 POSTING # Transportation Operations, Systems & Support Mobility Engineering 1) Working under an Engineering supervisor to manage the identification, development, implementation and support for the Advance Arterial Management (AAM) initiatives including Traffic Signal Optimization and Adaptive Signal Design and Management. 2) Involved with the development of standards and specific improvement projects to use technology to provide safe and effective transportation facilities. 3) Coordinate with the various entities within the NJDOT to minimize project conflicts and effectively use available resources. 4) Provide technical support with the management of the Mobility and Systems Engineering s (MSE) Traffic Signal Optimization Program, Adaptive Traffic Signal System (ATSS) program and other research initiatives in the unit.
