4 » Customised solutions for challenging storage requirements A modern logistic centre on m 2 Alstom is the only railway technology manufacturer that offers maintenance, servicing and modernisation for all types of rail vehicle in Germany, as well as their components. Alstom employs around 3,000 people at its six German locations. Deufol has been an Alstom partner for many years and takes care of logistic centre management. In this respect, Deufol handles all processes, from goods management, to inventory management, to outgoing goods. Alstom planned to build a brand-new full logistics centre for its location in Salzgitter, which was meant to improve logistics processes in three halls over 30,000 m2, and supersede the old field warehouse. During the build, Alstom place particular importance on efficient implementation and optimal supply to the production halls on the plant grounds. The company Alstom is a German manufacturer of railway technology and also offers the maintenance, repair and modernization of various rail vehicles. The management of their logistics centre is managed by a long-standing and experienced partner - the company Deufol. SCHULTE Lagertechnik was able to win Alstom over with great service and a comprehensive offering, so they were involved in planning Alstom s logistics centre from the very beginning. Numerous drawings, a fully developed concept and continuous support during the construction phase was just as much a part of the project as timely system delivery and proper assembly. The tight timeframe up to the planned handover of the new logistics centre posed a particular challenge. However, due to its streamlined decision-making processes and production on-site in Sundern, SCHULTE Lagertechnik was able to meet this demand without any issues and all that despite also having to manufacture special with mesh walls for storing long goods. 10 Lagertechnik Information Accessories PALLET RACKING» Innovations in the pallet racking for more safety and optimum storage 65 welding dimension 65 welding dimension Bolted system Plug-in system 50 beam depth EGN-DUO profile type This beam has a very stable, cold-formed profile with 5 hook brackets that ensure a particularly high degree of stability as well as longitudinal rigidity and torsional rigidity. The beam is used for high load capacities of up to 4450 kg for each pair and from beam lengths of 2,700 to 3,900. It is the ideal beam for all heavy goods due to its box shape. 50 beam depth New LNS-DUO profile type This beam profile also offers load capacities up to 3075 kg for each pair and is designed to be used for storing moderately heavy goods. It also consists of a cold-formed profile with 5 hook brackets. This beam is used for beam lengths from 950 to 3,300. This beam offers the best value for money depending on the required load capacity due to the quality of its workmanship. Old 40 New 65 Differences & advantages All beams now have a welding dimension of 65 and must therefore be ordered and replaced in pairs. Old and new beams may not be mounted at the same level in a shelf bay, as there is an impermissible height difference as a result. A uniform beam depth of 50 provides an even better supporting surface and makes it easier to select accessories. Select the right frames based on the total shelf loads (bay load) and the desired bay height. Find the right beams for the desired loads on page 205. 12 PALLET RACKING Technical regulations for setting up pallet racks At the aisles and traffic routes, the external uprights must be at least 500 higher than the top storage level in order to protect the aisles from falling items. Passageways and superstructure must be fitted with top decking (e.g. grating, wire mesh decking, chipboard). The clear passage height must be at least 2,000. If the distance between the pallets in double rack rows is less than 100, push-through safeguards must be fitted. Crash safety barriers must be installed at lower post members and passage routes in accordance with DUGV (BGR 234). Individual freestanding racks must be fitted with bay widths rear walls to protect the items from falling out. Concrete quality: at least C 20/25 in accordance with DIN EN (DIN ); Concrete thickness: at least 200 Load capacity labels must be attached to every system. The specifications only apply to uniformly distributed loads. - From the upper edge of 7,500 items, the respective local building regulations of the specific federal state must be observed by the operator. All bay load specifications only apply to indoor setup. Earthquake loads and wind/snow loads are not taken into account and must be requested separately.
