2 Contraceptives Supply Chain Scenario Prior to 2010 Need based forecasting missing (State, District, Block and SC) Improper indenting (irregular/no) Inadequate planning & improper distribution (PUSH system) Lack of maintenance of stock level (buffer/ Min-Max) Weak inventory management (record not updated) Lack of an efficient monitoring tool therefore, the RHCLMIS was introduced in the System supported by UNFPA

3 Genesis of RHCLMIS Implementation Prior to 2010, very poor status of supply chain management of contraceptives in Odisha In 2011, the Innovation was launched and piloted in four districts supported by UNFPA In 2012, expanded to 10 districts In 2013, expanded to another 10 districts In 2014, Implementation in the entire state covering all the 30 districts In 2015, RHCLMIS was strengthened in Odisha and expanded to include RMNCH+A drugs (piloted in five districts) Govt. of India acknowledged the Innovation and undertook measures for expanding to other states

Instant access to stock information at all public health facilities- in the public domain 4. Tracks contraceptive supplies at over 7000 health facilities in the state including sub centers

Alert message for short expiry for freeze or issue 8. Auto forecasting of contraceptives based on Population / ELA 9. Data transfer through SMS (indent, issue, updation, short supply etc.)

Tracking for availability of a particular item with batch no. 13. Tracking of incoming and outgoing SMS of users by administrator

9 Achievements 1. Program Managers have access to information on stock availability at all levels on real time basis 2. The state has witnessed a move from push to pull system demand based 3. Reduced stock outs for contraceptives for more than two years now 4. Reduced paper work 5. Save resources (time / travel) States of MP, Rajasthan and Bihar visited Odisha to study the system and expressed interest to replicate the intervention

10 Acknowledgement and recognition Reports of WHO and UNFPA acknowledged the RHCLMIS as an effective Innovation in family planning prog in 2015 Shortlisted for e-governance Award by Central Govt. in 2014 Acclaimed in National Conference on Innovations and Tools for achieving FP2020 Goals organised by PHFI Adjudged as the best Supply Chain Innovation in India by USAID Assessment in 2016 Govt. of India provisioned in NHM PIP to scale up across the country
