General Background Information and Aim of the Project: The purpose of this procurement is to purchase a range of equipment and training services for Beekeeping and Honey Processing in support of UNIDO capacity building activities in two states in South Sudan. The table below offers a summary overview of the requirements for the project. Comes with : floor and entrance block, brood body and brood frames, dummy board, queen excluder, super body and super frame, crownboard and porter escape, and a two part roof (outer roof in galvanised metal). 1.2 Hive stand ONE (1) x hive stand suitable for CAB Hive (item 1.1) that supports the hive off the ground and keeps the hive dry. 1.3 Beeswax sheets Pack of THREE (3) x Beeswax foundation sheets. Made from 100% pure natural packs beeswax. 1 x Brood wired and 2 x Super wired sizes. 1.4 Smoker ONE (1) x Stainless steel bee smoker with protection and a hook. The smoker has a reservoir, a pair of bellows and a spout through which smoke comes out. 1.5 Uncapping fork ONE (1) x Uncapping fork with wooden or plastic handle, approx. 210mm x 8mm. Angled stainless steel needles keep the handle away from the face of the comb and allow the beekeeper to lift off the capping with minimum wastage. 1. Hive tool ONE (1) x J-shape or hook-shape stainless steel hive tool, approx. 250mm long. 1.7 Bee brush ONE (1) x 400mm long x 80mm wide wooden handled soft brush with a twin row of natural fibres. Used as an occasional brush for removing any straggler bees from a comb. 1.8 Protective suit and detachable head veil ONE (1) x Professional apiarist (beekeepers) protective suit in colour WHITE. Size : Large to fit adult height 185cm ( 1 ) and chest (42-44 ) Complete with a self-supporting protective safety hood to keep veil in position and fine mesh screen that provides excellent vision for the beekeeper. 1.9 Protective gloves ONE (1) x Professional apiarist (beekeepers) protective gloves in leather with cotton elasticated sleeves at the elbow. Double strainer/sleeve ONE (1) x Double strainer set. 240mm diameter. Arms, when extended, open to 420mm. All stainless steel construction. Coarse mesh has an aperture of 1.5mm and the fine 0.5mm. Depth of top strainer is approx 40mm Plastic buckets (food grade) ONE (1) x 20 litres / 5 gallon white polyethene easy-clean honey bucket with snapon lid. Plastic jerrycan litre ONE (1) x White/natural plastic jerrycan, Litres capacity, with screw top lid. 1.1 Lab coat ONE (1) x White cotton laboratory overcoat with zipper or stud-push buttons. Two lower pockets on front panels Swarm catcher bag ONE (1) x Swarm catcher bag made from canvas and plated steel with a nylon rope pull cord for closing the top. Place the bag underneath the swarm and gently ease the bag upward to enclose as much of the swarm as possible. Requires user to add a wooden pole (not included) around 30 mm diameter Catcher clip ONE (1) x Plastic bee catcher clip. When pressed between thumb and forefinger it opens the cage and allows you to pick up the queen. 4 RFQ Lot 1b Services: Training Unit Price 1.21 Training for Lopa County, Imatong State FIVE (5) x days training visit to location in Lopa County where a total of 45 farmer/beekeepers shall be trained in beekeeping and honey production methods. 1 Total Price compliance* yes/no Remarks** Language of training shall be in ENGLISH and local Sudanese dialect (the training provider should bring a translator with them). The outcome of the training should be that they acquire the following knowledge: Understanding of the honey value chain and principles of beekeeping; Improved apiary management practices; Appropriate method of harvesting, processing and storage of honey; Understanding on marketing channels and benefits of collective marketing. Gain in-depth knowledge on working within a group as well as record keeping and management. The training course should involve topics such as: Honey value chain in South Sudan Introduction to beekeeping: Importance, status and challenges Bee species and honey bee life cycle Work division of adult honey bees (queen, workers and drones) Types of bee hives Identification and use of modern beekeeping equipment Colony inspection and management Swarming: Cause, season, control and management Transferring bees from traditional and improved hives Absconding: Types, causes, control and management Colony selection, dividing and uniting colonies Control of robbing in honeybee colony Major honeybee diseases, pests, parasites and their causes, prevention and control Appropriate method of harvesting, processing of honey Storage and packaging for marketing and long duration transport Marketing channels and benefits of collective marketing Group dynamics Record keeping and management Deliverables : The provider shall send (1) a full report via to the UNIDO Project Officer complete with photographs of the training activities. Offers to be made in US dollars. Equipment 2. The equipment to be supplied should be worldwide known Brand Name quality, unused (except where specified) and of the most current models or stock lines, incorporating all recent improvements in design and components. 3. Any active (electrically powered) equipment must operate on SINGLE PHASE power supply 50Hz, 3 pin plug, type C. 4. The bid should be accompanied by adequate technical documentation, datasheets, catalogue(s) and other printed material or pertinent information (in English) for the items quoted. 5. Offers should specify warranty details and ideally, the warranty must be a minimum of months from the date of acceptance at final delivery site. Experience. Bidders should provide documentary evidence of a minimum of 3 contracts awarded and served within the past 5 years proving relevant international experience in supplying any of the items / equipment offered in response to this RFQ see Annex 2, Experience/Previous Contracts. 10 RFQ Bidders should provide contact details for three business related referees, ONE (1) supplier reference and TWO (2) client references. Bidders are also encouraged to register or advise of their registration number on the UNGM database (UN Global Marketplace ) - see Annex 2, Experience/Previous Contracts Training 8. Bidder must provide CV s and experience statements for the key staff and trainer(s) who must have prior experience for training on the subjects within the Lot for which they are offering. see Annex 3, Key Personnel Form 9. All associated costs for the TRAINING ELEMENT should be included in the unit price e.g. trainer fees, translator fees, additional tools, equipment, stationery, worksheets, manuals and other consumables needed for delivery of the training programme. 10. The bidder (and/or bidders training staff) will be responsible for the provision of FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS for each trainee per day at the training locations. A separate line on the bid form has been allocated for this service and as a guide for bidders, there is a Not To Exceed Limit (NTE) based on local market costs of USD $5.00 per participant per day for a simple meal/drink provision. Delivery 11. Delivery Period for goods/equipment is to DAP project sites Lopa / Budi county, Imatong / Kapoita State, South Sudan no later than eight (8) weeks from the date of signing the purchase order.
