1 Release 10.8

2 Summary GS1 Canada is continually enhancing ECCnet Registry based on community business requirements and feedback from our users. This document outlines new or revised attributes, validations and functionalities that are available within ECCnet Registry Release With this release, all ECCnet Registry users have access to the following: Revised Pharmaceutical Attributes Revised GDSN Mapping Rule Attributes for Omni-Channel Synchronizing Data Using EDI Standard for Pharmacy and Medical Devices Revised Pharmaceutical Attributes Revised Attributes This change is identified as non-backwards-compatible. Action is required when updating an existing GTIN after ECCnet Registry 10.8 is released. You must change existing values to comply with the new attribute options. An attempt to save an updated GTIN without changing these values will result in an error message. The GTIN will be considered to be non-compliant until these values are revised. To ensure continuous alignment with GS1 Global Data Standards, the following pharmaceutical attributes are updated: Temperature Control Range In previous versions, this range was a selected value. When you selected Other, you were required to specify the following: Temperature Control Range Other Minimum; Maximum; and UOM attributes. In version 10.8, Temperature Control Range attribute has been removed. The following attributes are renamed: Minimum Maximum UOM Renamed as Temperature Control Minimum Temperature Control Maximum Temperature Control UOM 2 Copyright 2015 GS1 Canada

3 These attribute values are mandatory when a Drug Identification Number (DIN), Homeopathic Medicine Number (DIN-HM) or Natural Product Number (NPN) value is provided. Validation is performed to ensure that where Temperature Control Maximum is provided, Temperature Control Minimum is also provided. Similarly, where Temperature Control Minimum is provided, Temperature Control Maximum must also be provided. As is the case with all UOM attributes, Temperature Control UOM must be provided whenever Temperature Control Maximum and Temperature Control Minimum are provided. ACTION: The Temp Control Range attribute has been removed, along with values associated with it. As a data provider, to preserve existing temperature control range values, you must transfer current values from Temperature Control Range to Temp Control Range Other Maximum, Temp Control Range Other Minimum and Temp Control Range UOM fields prior to the release of version Marking Front/Back/Alternate In previous versions, you would provide Marking Front, Marking Back and Marking Alternate value in English and French; a total of six values. 4 Appears in version 10.8 as UOM Temperature Control UOM Marking Front Markings Direct Revised GDSN Mapping Rule For data providers using the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) to synchronize data with ECCnet trading partners, the following mapping rule is in effect: If the value for Allergen Relevant Data Provided attribute is True, then there is no need to provide a value in all other mandatory allergen attributes. Each missing mandatory allergen value is given the value No. Attributes for Omni-Channel For Omni-Channel application of product data we are building on the existing framework of ECCnet allowing data providers to load information using ECCnet ProSYNC interface and File Upload. This is the first step in a plan towards future GS1 Canada managed services that combine both images and data for online marketing. EDI and GDSN data loading for Omni-Channel are out of scope for this release. New Attributes Omni-Channel attributes have been added to the list of ECCnet Registry product attributes. These new attributes will be used by Retailers to market products to the end consumer via retailer websites. These Omni-Channel attributes apply to a wide range of categories such as: Home, Health & Beauty, Baby, Pets, Electronics, Sporting Goods, Hardware, Building Materials, Tools, Automotive, Garden, Apparel, Footwear, and Fashion Accessories & Jewellery. Changes to Existing Attributes A new option has been added to the existing attribute Purchase Type: Collateral (CL) Trade item sold to a consumer at a special price as part of a promotional event; free sample offered to help secure the purchase of another item or items. Existing options for Purchase Type will remain unchanged: Gift with purchase (GW) and Purchase with purchase (PW). New Functions A new attribute in the Omni-Channel group involves a new function: Product Information Release Date Date when all product information becomes available to data recipients. In some cases, it might be necessary to withhold consumer-facing product information, for example for a consistent and market coordinated product launch. When this attribute value appears as a future date, all product information is stored in ECCnet Registry and is not 4 Copyright 2015 GS1 Canada

5 released to any data recipients to whom product information has been published until this date. For more detailed Omni-Channel attribute information, see the ECCnet Registry Attribute Guide < Synchronizing Data Using EDI Standard for Pharmacy and Medical Devices This release allows users to synchronize data using the EDI 832 Price/Sales Catalog transaction set version This transaction set is used to electronically provide product data for the Pharmacy sector and the Healthcare Medical Device sector. For more information on ECCnet Registry implementation for Pharmacy and Medical Devices and EDI 832 Price/Sales Catalog transaction set version , see the Canadian ECCnet Guidelines for EDI document on the ECCnet Registry Technical Documents page < >. For existing EDI data providers and EDI data recipients, GS1 Canada ECCnet Registry will continue to support the EDI 4010 Standard and no changes are required. Copyright 2015 GS1 Canada 5
