Store!D Devices

Store!D: RFID designed for fashion retail Making sure that a product is available for customers is crucial these days. Customers are more demanding than ever, both from the brick and mortar stores as online. However, product availability should not translate in overstocked stores and the associated high capital cost. Therefore, accurate stock information at any time is the key. With RFID technology, stock management can be highly automated - resulting in optimal stock availability, without stock piling. Nedap s Store!D RFID readers help retailers overcome the challenges of deploying advanced technology such as RFID in all stores. The Store!D products have a limited impact on the store design, are easy to operate and can easily be rolled-out to hundreds of stores in a short timeframe, and also managed afterwards. The Store!D portfolio encompasses all fixed and mobile readers that are necessary in-store, covering the relevant business processes from goods receiving, stock room to sales floor movements, inventory taking, sales, returns and Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS).

Store!D stands for: Well-designed, fashionable devices that perfectly fit in a retail store environment. Best in-store RFID performance and automatic stray tag filtering with Advanced Tag Filtering (ATF) technology. Remote management ensures optimal working of systems and business processes. Remote service instantly solves issues by remotely applying configuration changes. Open Application Programming Interfaces (API s) with extensive documentation.

State-of-the-art RFID performance All the Store!D devices have specifically been developed to be used in retail stores. This not only means that they are well designed, and blend into the store environment, but also the RFID performance is optimally balanced for the store environment. With the state-of-the-art reader and (patented) antenna design, optimal read performance is ensured, even in challenging settings. Configuring an RFID reader for the variety of use cases using the many parameters available is always a complex endeavour. Nedap s Store!D readers take this complexity away by having predefined roles for selected use cases with optimum parameter settings. The EAS, stock room to sales floor and goods receiving roles each have their own optimised settings. This enables system integrators to focus on processing the reads instead of obtaining the reads. The smart antenna configuration and synchronization between all readers ensures the best detection rates, yet mitigates the limitations of RFID, such as body shielding. 6 Store!D integrated readers with ATF The!D Top with ATF only detects labels that are moving, while the!d Gate with ATF only detects labels in between the gates. Common RFID readers Common RFID readers read labels everywhere around, due to an unrestricted field and reflections. This will cause false alarms at the exit and more stray tag reads than necessary.

Only read what needs to be read Besides obtaining high read rates, another major challenge when applying RFID in a retail environment is making sure that you only read what you want to read. A typical RFID system does not have a limited area of reading and is sensitive to reflections and disturbances. This can cause false alarms when a system is used as anti-theft system. Nedap s Advanced Tag Filtering (ATF) technology filters those stray tag reads away by using multiple antenna s, a set of parameters of the received signals and other sensory inputs to read only the tags that should be read. Of course, the tags that should be read are different for each of the business processes that RFID covers. Therefore, all Store!D Devices can be easily adjusted to the required read performance by assigning them a role that automatically applies the matching filtering technology. This ensures that only the relevant tags are read, no more, no less.

Easy installation When deploying RFID in a retail environment, typically tens or hundreds of stores need to be installed in a very short timeframe. Therefore, the entire installation should be extremely simple and costeffective. This has been a very important design criteria for the Store!D products. The Store!D products require a lot less cabling compared to traditional RFID systems. Each!D Gate or!d Top is connected to the next one with just one Ethernet cable, and we use Power over Ethernet to power the systems. Besides the physical installation, the configuration has also been made extremely easy. After following the online training program, every IT-skilled engineer is able to configure a Store!D product. No need for RFID engineers to travel to every location to make the installation and execute the configuration.

Remote management Because RFID is a critical part in the process of the retailer, it is important that all systems are always working with optimum performance. All fixed readers automatically report their status to the Nedap Device Management service. This service reports exceptions within minutes and notifies the right people to take action, within your organisation or a designated service partner. New features and bug-fixes are deployed overnight in automatic firmware updates.

Remote service For over 12 years, Nedap has provided online remote service to its customers. Today, more than 30,000 stores are connected and the system is paying off for retailers each and every day. Connected systems can be monitored and serviced remotely - from anywhere in the world - ensuring the highest system uptime. As much as 80% of all service calls are resolved remotely. This results in fewer service call outs which saves precious time and money, not only in the cost of a technician visiting the store, but also in the response time.

Network integration All Store!D devices have an open Application Programming Interface (API) that can be used by the retailer or a third party software company to integrate the Store!D devices in a total RFID solution. Nedap provides extensive documentation and example code to make this as easy as possible. Not only the devices have an API, also Device Management services can be integrated. Via this API, it is possible to retrieve monitoring notifications, update the firmware or receive data from the systems - to integrate it into third party device management solutions.

From receiving goods in the stock room, stocktaking, to reading articles at the exit of the store, and generating alarms when necessary.

lamp optional infra-red beam sensors dual-side antenna advertising space optional metal detection buzzer remote management & remote service RFID reader!d Gate The!D Gate is a modern, open pedestal that is mounted on the floor. Because it is an integrated reader, both the reader and antennae are included. It supports processes like goods receiving, transition from stock room to sales floor and anti-theft (EAS). Depending on the role, the optimum RFID parameters are chosen automatically. Optionally, it can be equipped with infra-red beam sensors to count customers or to find the direction of goods between the stock room and the sales floor. When used as an anti-theft system, it is possible to integrate 8.2 MHz RF technology and/or metal detection. Also promotional posters can be included. Large entrances can be covered easily, due to the dual-sided antenna design and easy cabling between!d Gates.

!D Top The!D Top is an integrated reader that can easily be mounted on the wall or to the ceiling - using almost invisible steel cables. Its compact, clean design blends into every store, keeping the entrance of the store wide open when used as an anti-theft system. The!D Top can be combined with overhead customer counting sensors or as an addition to existing (AM/RF) EAS systems. Optionally, it can also be wall-mounted between the stock-room and sales floor when the space or ceiling height is constrained. Industry standard RFID reading performance. Vibration motor and beeper give the user intuitive feedback. Optional barcode reader to read barcodes.

USB / ethernet interface rugged casing power over ethernet antenna RFID reader!d POS The!D POS is an integrated reader to be used for reading items at the point-of-sale station. It has a small, rugged casing that can be mounted under the cash desk. The antenna only reads items on top of the reader, while ignoring items below or next to the antenna, due to the built-in shielding. It can be connected via USB or Ethernet, while the power can be supplied by a local power supply.
