As October 1, 2013, the minimum qualification stards (MQS) contained in FS- Fire Program Management (FS-FPM), are in effect for several current OCR announcements. All applicants applying to FS-FPM for this round Fire Hire must possess the MQS as selective placement factors in order to be eligible. FS-FPM are tiered from IFPM; however, the MQS were adjusted to be appropriate for the Forest Service s fourth tier organization, typically located on a ranger district, or are subordinate to an IFPM position. 3 Applicants applying to requiring IFPM /or FS-FPM must submit a recent copy their Incident Qualification Certification System (IQCS) or (IQS) Master Record or, equivalent documentation that contains documented 3rd party pro the NWCG Qualification or Additional Required Training requirement. If the IQCS or IQS Master Record cannot be obtained (or not used in the case private sector), the applicant must submit documentation that shows the applicant has attained the required NWCG Qualifications Training. Submitted documentation must include 3rd party certification (e.g., signature the certifying ficial s name, title, contact information, date certification). Pro NWCG qualification includes documentation such as: Copy Task Book (PTB) certification page (page 2 only the PTB) that has been signed dated by the applicant s certifying ficial or, Screen capture from the IQCS or IQS database showing certification the required NWCG qualification (i.e., Incident Qualification Card tab, Competency Evaluation tab, Qual Card Summary tab, or Current Competencies tab, etc.) Selective Placement Factors: A minimum 90 days experience performing on-the-line (Primary/Rigorous) wildl fire suppression duties as a member an organized fire suppression crew or comparable unit that utilized knowledge wildl fire suppression, containment or control techniques practices under various conditions. This experience must be documented with specific dates in the online application or resume. Primary firefighter include the following age requirements: Under age 37 -OR- less than age 37 after subtracting the months Federal Service worked in a primary or secondary firefighter/law enforcement position -OR- a veteran preference eligible, older than age 37 is requesting a waiver to the maximum age requirement. s may require the selectee to possess or obtain maintain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) prior to entrance on duty maintain the Commercial Drivers License during employment. The GS-0401 Fire Mgmt Specialist should be used if the primary purpose the position is to perform NEPA/vegetation management analysis duties. The GS-0462 Frstry Techncn (Fuels) should be used if the primary purpose the position is managing the district fuels program does not have preponderance duties in NEPA/vegetation management analysis. Forests need to ensure they are recruiting filling for the appropriate supervisory or non-supervisory GS-9 prevention position. Applicants should be aware the appropriate announcement they should apply to. can be selected as a 6/7 developmental or as a full performance 6 or 7. No selections will be made at the 5 level. 8/ The Merit for the Smokjumper 5/6 will end in a "FS" not the normal "G" as it will be a Forest Service Wide announcement.
