Delta Industrial Ethernet Switches Automated Guided Vehicle Solution

Automated Guided Vehicle Solution The advanced automation, safety, and flexibility of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) make them key elements of the smart logistics trend in smart manufacturing, warehousing and logistics. Delta utilizes an Ethernet switch to connect AGVs in the plant with the main control station through high-speed wireless Ethernet communication. By relaying real-time operating data via the Delta system, the master control station can keep track of mission dispatching and operating status of each AGV to enable smart logistics distribution and reduce the labor cost of a multitude of tasks. Introduction Function With the trend for increased intelligence in smart manufacturing, warehousing and logistics to optimize processes in the logistics and manufacturing industries, traditional manpower can now be largely replaced to achieve fully-automated and efficient logistics and transport operations. Among these trends, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) are one of the key elements in smart logistics because of their uniqueness in advanced automation, safety, and flexibility. Delta utilizes an Ethernet switch to connect AGVs in the plant with the main control station through high-speed wireless Ethernet communication. By relaying real-time operating data back to the system, the master control station can keep track of mission dispatching and operating status of each AGV to enable smart logistics distribution and reduce the labor cost of a multitude of tasks.

Application AGVs can be widely used in automobile manufacturing, machining, and other automated production as well as in storage systems. AGVs are considered to be a key piece of equipment for the production line, automated warehouse, logistics and warehousing systems. Process Description The AGV features a built-in TAG Reader as a visual sensing system for reading different bar code labels in the plant that trigger different operations. When planning AGV task routing, the main controller calculates the best route script, so that the operator at the master control station can simply confirm the dispatch tasks of each vehicle. During its operation, the AGV runs along magnetic tape lines and uses its built-in controller for switching commands and for controlling the vehicle s movements to the left, the right, or along the center line of the tape. Precise control is also possible during left and right turns, acceleration and deceleration, and when setting a speed limit at a road split. In addition, when the vehicle parks, the controller triggers the sensors installed on the vehicle and activates sensing detection to maintain a safe distance that prevents collisions to the bumper.

Delta Total Solution Configuration List Features and Advantages Multifunctional wireless network The Ethernet switches support IEEE802.11n, and is compatible with a/b/g with high-flexibility communication One single switch supports multiple operation modes, including master, slave, and relay stations. Customers have a flexible setup without the need to purchase multiple models for assembly High-speed Ethernet transmission of up to 450Mbps in bandwidth

Applications for various environments For AGV applications, the network switches feature a roaming function that can quickly switch connections within 30 milliseconds Communication gateway function to facilitate the use of MODBUS communication Modular interface for flexible management The Ethernet settings provide a web-based interface that users can use to adjust parameters remotely Process The setup interface utilizes graphical display and built-in network monitoring Descrition tools for convenient maintenance for users
