1 GS1 Canada Release Notes GS1 Canada Release notes are intended to keep our members up-to-date of the enhancements that are implemented. ECCnet Registry Release Changes 1) Change to Brand Name attribute length The length of the ECCnet Registry attribute Brand Name is increased from 66 to 70 characters. Data providers Update systems to make use of the length increase. Data recipients Update system models to accommodate the length increase. 2) Ship From Company/Location Name attribute length The length of the ECCnet Registry attribute Ship From Company/Location Name is increased from 60 to 200 characters. Data providers Update systems to make use of the length increase. Data recipients Update system models to accommodate the length increase. Please note: Trading partners using ECCnet ProLYNC Application Programming Interface (API) version prior to 9.8 or Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) data recipients will be restricted to 60 characters in length and will receive a partial data value for this attribute if the attribute length exceeds 60 characters. This compatibility issue is currently being addressed by GS1 Canada with direction from community.

2 3) NEW FEATURE: Market Group Publication This new feature will enable ECCnet Registry data providers (ECCnet ProSYNC users and DIT) to publish multiple Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) to multiple trading partners simultaneously, thereby ensuring quicker listing processes and enhanced efficiencies. Action Creating (a) Market Group(s) New Features/Enhancements Data providers will have the option to group like trading partners together for multiple trading partner publication. GDSN trading partners cannot be assigned to a Market Group. Users with publication privileges are able to add/edit/delete trading partners from those listed and associated with the Market Group. Publishing (a) GTIN(s) Data providers can publish one or multiple GTINs to one or multiple trading partners, removing the need to specify/publish individually. Withdrawing (a) GTIN(s) Publication Delete Relationship Users with publication privileges can withdraw a publication from Market Group. The withdrawal action will delete any existing publication record for all trading partners within the Market Group. Users with publication privileges will be able to delete a trading partner previously added to the trading partner list. Deleting a trading partner relationship will result in withdrawing all pre-existing publication records. After deleting the trading partner relationship, users will not be able to view this trading partner on the GTIN publication search screens. Deleted trading partners should be removed from any existing Market Group. Users with publication privileges will have the ability to add previously deleted trading partners.

As a result of this change and to maintain GDSN alignment, ECCnet Registry code values will remain the same (two characters) and only the following two ECCnet Registry attributes are impacted. 4 Only one of the code values of Suggested Serving Size UOM concerns ECCnet Registry: Attribute Old UOM New UOM Description Suggested Serving Size UOM DL DLT Deciliter Be advised that the three character code is converted to a two character code by GS1 Canada prior to sending product data to Canadian trading partners. 6) GDSN Promotional Trade Item Attribute Changes The GDSN extension, Promotional Trade Item, will be implemented and affects the following attributes in ECCnet Registry: Attribute Trade Item Promo Offer Net Free QTY (including UOM) Free Quantity of Product (including UOM) Status No longer mapped to Bonus Size or Bonus Size Amount in ECCnet Registry. Will now be mapped to Bonus Size or Bonus Size Amount in ECCnet Registry. ECCnet Registry users No impact. Note that the new GDSN attribute Free Quantity of Product mapped to ECCnet Registry attribute Bonus Size or Bonus Size Amount. 7) Seasonal Attributes Group Change

5 GDSN will replace the attribute Is Trade Item a Seasonal Item with Is Trade Item Seasonal. The new attribute will be grouped with the Seasonal Attributes group. Attribute Is Trade Item a Seasonal Item Is Trade Item Seasonal Status Will no longer be mapped to Seasonal Product in ECCnet Registry. New attribute which will now be mapped to Seasonal Product in ECCnet Registry. ECCnet Registry users No impact. Note that the new GDSN attribute Is Trade Item Seasonal mapped to ECCnet Registry attribute Seasonal Product. 8) Data Recipient Catalogue Item Confirmation (CIC) Enhancement Data recipients can now send up to 1000 characters of information in a CIC message. data with U.S.-based retailers May receive more descriptive messages in ECCnet Registry from trading partners. ECCnet Release 10.2 Changes for Retailers - April 6, 2010 The following changes to ECCnet Registry will be implemented on June 25, 2010 and affect GS1 Canada retailer members internal systems.

6 HST Implementation As per government legislation passed in December 2009, Provincial Sales Tax (PST) and the Goods and Services Sales Tax (GST) will be combined into the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) in Ontario and British Columbia, effective July 1, In order to meet new government requirements, your internal systems may need upgrading to receive tax data that has been updated and loaded by your vendors in ECCnet Registry. Details of HST data mapping: If GST/HST is indicated as Yes for the product HST will be checked and the GST flag removed for Ontario and British Columbia. If GST/HST is indicated as No, Exempted, or Not Provided for the product HST will not be checked for Ontario and British Columbia. Short Description Attribute The Short Description attribute in ECCnet Registry has been enhanced to support 35 characters, up from 30 characters. 35-character short descriptions are provided by manufacturers/vendors via their chosen data loading tool. Details of receiving 35 character short descriptions: Retailers and other data recipients must enhance their internal systems to receive the increased short description attribute. Should your internal systems not be updated to support this enhancement, product descriptions will not be available. ECCnet Release 10.2 Changes for Vendors - April 6, 2010 The following changes to ECCnet Registry and ECCnet ProSYNC will be implemented on June 25, 2010 and affect GS1 Canada vendor members. HST Implementation

Details of HST Implementation: Please review and validate the accuracy of your Point-of-Sale tax information within ECCnet Registry to ensure compliance and data integrity. You may receive further communications from GS1 Canada if your data needs to be validated and/or transitioned. Short Description Attribute The Short Description attribute in ECCnet Registry has been enhanced to support 35 characters, up from 30 characters. 35-character short descriptions are provided by manufacturers/vendors via their chosen data loading tool. Trading Partner Access Report A new Trading Partner Access Report has been created in ECCnet ProSYNC. Details of the Trading Partner Access Report: The report lists all trading partners to whom your organization has published data. This list includes both retailers who are and are not subscribing to your product catalogue. A summary of the publication type at the catalogue level, including details on No Access, Limited Access, or Unlimited Access regarding the selection codes for all retailers. Data Load Status Report (DLSR) Enhancements to the Data Load Status Report (DLSR) have been made for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) vendors. Details of the DLSR: Includes detailed GTIN transaction count information in the ECCnet Import Summary of Process section, including the count of GTINs added, replaced, changed, and rejected, as well as the number of errors.

8 Invalid Unmarked Inner The Invalid Unmarked Inner Indicator error message in the ECCnet ProSYNC Data Import Tool (DIT) has been resolved. GS1 Canada Service Enhancements - September 21, 2009 Pagination and Search Options The following enhancements to pagination and search options for system reports have been added to ECCnet Registry, ECCnet ProSYNC, and ECCnet ProLYNC version 10.1 and above: Page jump via edit box and Go To Page button. Option to search reports by date, type and status. Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility ECCnet Registry, ECCnet ProSYNC, ECCnet ProLYNC version 10.1, and Public Search Browse and Download (PSBD) are now compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer 8. Re-request Functionality Re-request functionality in ECCnet Registry has been enhanced with the inclusion of the Include Lower Level Packaging option. When a data recipient (retailer/distributor) user enables this option, all lower-level Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) associated with the GTIN selected will be re-sent. All of the above enhancements are effective September 28, Pharmaceutical Data Values in ECCnet Registry - August 15, 2009 Route of Administration

9 Two new values will be added to the Route of Administration attribute by September 30, Six values will be renamed by September 30, values will be tagged as To be removed and phased out of ECCnet Registry. o At a later date and after necessary data remediation is performed these values will be removed completely from ECCnet Registry. GS1 Canada will provide further advisement. See the Route of Administration Code Values. Dosage Form 43 new values will be added to the Dosage Form attribute by September 30, Two values will be renamed by September 30, values will be tagged as To be removed and phased out of ECCnet Registry. o At a later date after necessary data remediation is performed these values will be removed completely from ECCnet Registry. GS1 Canada will provide further advisement. See the list of Dosage Form Code Values. Size/UOM Three new values will be added to the Size/UOM attribute by September 30, o The GS1 Canada Retail Pharmacy Task Group identified pharmaceutical-specific Size/UOM values and recommended utilizing them when loading pharmaceutical product data to ECCnet Registry. See the list of Size/UOM Code Values and the list of Pharmaceutical-specific Size/UOM Code Values. Active Ingredient Strength UOM Nine new values will be added to the Active Ingredient Strength UOM attribute by September 30, values will be tagged as To be removed and phased out of ECCnet Registry.

See the list of Active Ingredient Strength UOM Code Values Biomedical Hazard Currently, there are three options in the Biomedical Hazard attribute in ECCnet Registry: Cytotoxic/Antineoplastic Material Biologic Material Radioactive Material As of September 30, 2009, the Biomedical Hazard attribute options will be renamed to no longer include the word Material and expanded into the following four options: Cytotoxic Antineoplastic Biologic Radioacative
