2 Introduction Modern life is unimaginable without electricity. It lights houses, buildings, streets, provides domestic and industrial heat, and powers most equipment used in homes, offices and machinery in factories. Improving access to electricity worldwide is critical to alleviating poverty. Coal plays a vital role in electricity generation worldwide. Coal-fired power plants currently fuel 41% of global electricity and, in Peninsular Malaysia coal-fired power plants represent about 50% of total electricity generation. It is imperative that TNB develops its own human capital in understanding the overall coal supply chain management and its coal power plant operators are able to utilise and manage coal effectively and efficiently. TNBF had work together with ILSAS (TNB s subsidiaries providing training services) in organising Coal Supply Chain training program. TNB is the largest coal fired power plant owner in Malaysia. TNB owns five (5) coal plants with a total generation of 8,700 MW. Meanwhile TNBF is the only coal procurement company in Malaysia, had delivered about 26 million tonne of coal to power plant in Peninsular Malaysia and expected to deliver 39.5 million tonne by TNBF with the vast experience gained in supplying coal and expertise from TNB s power plant in operating their assets, the coal supply chain program will explain and discuss on the challenges in supplying coal from mine pit to power plants.
