Business Information & Statistics Manager, Statistical Programs Summary of Aluminum Producer Net Shipments 1 January 2016 February 29, 2016 Aluminum net shipments (including exports) by domestic U.S. and Canadian facilities totaled an estimated 1,853 million pounds during January 2016, down 3.4 percent from the January 2015 total of 1,919 million pounds. Shipments of aluminum mill products totaled 1,245 million pounds, 3.0 percent below a year ago, while shipments of aluminum ingot for castings, exports and destructive uses were down 4.3 percent, totaling 608 million pounds. Compared to December 2015, total January shipments increased 6.2 percent. Preliminary estimates indicate that during 2015, producer shipments totaled an estimated 23,033 million pounds, seven-tenths of one percent below the 2014 total of 23,191 million. Inventories fell 4.8 percent from December to January, totaling an estimated 2,841 million pounds. Industry Net Shipments Percent Change Full Year % Chg. The Aluminum Association Not Seasonally Adjusted The Association estimates producer net shipments based on reports by its members of their shipments for the latest month. The Association expands these data to total industry utilizing expansion ratio that attempts to reflect the relationship of reporters to the total industry. While the Association believes that its statistical procedures and methods are reliable, it does not warrant the accuracy or completeness of the data.
