5 PROPEL PAVEMENT REHABILITATION & MAINTENANCE Pavement rehabilitation and maintenance is PROPEL s main area of expertise. PROPEL s comprehensive pavement maintenance begins with a pavement condition assessment where the data collected is used to customise the most suitable treatment method and maintenance programme for the asset. Pavement treatment methods include: Conventional Paving i.e. Pavement overlay, mill and pave, surface regulating and interlocking concrete pavement. Specialised Paving i.e. porous asphalt, micro surfacing, fuel safe asphalt, cold-in-place-recycling, roadbase strengthening, soft ground treatment and anti-skid coating for pavement. 7 PROPEL TRAFFIC & SAFETY MANAGEMENT PROPEL provides Traffic & Safety Management services with the objective to manage and control traffic flow by designing and providing adequate notices and traffic warnings to divert traffic. We ensure that road users are adequately guided and warned of any safety hazards along the highway All our traffic management schemes and equipment comply to the requirements and specifications of relevant authorities such as Public Works Department and Malaysian Highway Authority. Our maintenance methodology includes: Preventive Maintenance Comprehensive scheduled maintenance is customised for each asset to ensure reliability and uptime. A Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is used as a management tool to facilitate this fundamental aspect of maintenance. 13 PROPEL PLANT OPTIMISATION PROPEL provides plant optimisation for power, cement and waste to energy plants with the objective to increase efficiency by optimising fuel combustion of the plant. The Process Intelligent Technology (PiT) Navigator is an optimisation package developed by Powitec Intelligent Technologies of Germany consisting of adaptive software, optical sensors for flame analysis and acoustical sensors for analysis of level of grinding: A green solution that increases boiler efficiency and availability while reducing emissions High-Speed Cameras observe the combustion chamber through a patented pattern recognition process and extract significant features of the ignition, combustion and burnout behaviour. A Vibration Pick-Up captures mill vibrations, which are being evaluated by a high performance computer. From these vibration data, early information on degree of milling and coal quality are derived. The Process Data from the control and communications system are permanently read online via interface. The PiT Navigator correlates these data with the optical and acoustical information through software based on neural nets. For process modelling, a system of neural nets is applied, capable of displaying the time-varying dependencies between the values to be optimised and the plant s controlled variables and disturbance variables. The Set Point Corrections calculated by the PiT Navigator are transferred to the control system over the interface and the improved correcting instructions continuously control towards the optimum.
