2 NIELSEN AD INTEL: CUSTOM PRODUCTS CUSTOM PRODUCTS Nielsen Ad Intel provides users with the ability to create Custom Products which combine individual brands and/or brand variants together and report them as a single value. For example, if a user wishes to see a single value for Brand X and Brand Y combined, they can create a custom brand that aggregates the two. This feature is also used to assign brands to specific Account Representatives and run reports according to those brand assignments. CLICK HERE to learn how to assign brands using Custom Products. CREATE A CUSTOM PRODUCT 1.) On the Maintenance screen, click Product Selection within the left-hand navigation panel. 2.) Select Custom Brands, Custom Brand Variants or Custom Product Categories from the Maintain drop-down. 3.) Click the Create New button at the bottom of the screen. 4.) Locate the desired Brands, Brand Variants or Product Categories using the Text Search or Product Browse options. 5.) Move all of the retrieved items to the Selected Products box. 6.) Name the Custom Product and click Accept at the bottom of the window. NOTE Product Categories can be included with a Brand (i.e. a Category + a Brand). This keeps the custom brand automatically up to date from a category perspective. Industries, Parents, and Subsidiaries cannot be included in a custom brand/brand variant. 3 NIELSEN AD INTEL: CUSTOM PRODUCTS USING CUSTOM PRODUCTS USE A CUSTOM PRODUCT IN A REPORT Select Brand or Brand Variant as a row in Report Layout in order to see data broken out by Custom Brands or Brand Variants. 1.) Select other Required Selections, then go to the Product Selection area of Optional Selections. 2.) Select the Custom Products radio button and Search for the name you gave the Custom Product. 3.) Move the retrieved Custom Product to the Selected Products list at the right. You ll notice that after you select a Custom Product, a Report on custom product components checkbox appears above your selections. By default, this box is unchecked, indicating that your Custom Product will summarize all its components into one total number. If you would like to see all the components broken out separately, be sure to check the box. 4.) Click Process Report button to open the Process Report window. 5.) Click Submit button. NOTES

4 All custom products selected in a report must be of the same type. For example, you cannot select a custom brand and a custom brand variant in the same report. In addition, Parents and Subsidiaries cannot be selected in conjunction with a custom product. When requesting custom brands, additional individual brands may be selected, but additional brand variants cannot.
