Just fr Fun Made t Imagine: an activity that prmtes empathy and facilitates biblical applicatin thrugh rle-play and reenactment What Yu Need: N supplies needed Sit in a circle and tell kids clse their eyes. Explain that the grup will create a mental picture with each persn adding a detail t the picture. Start by giving the grup an bject t imagine, such as a cat. Ask smene t add a detail he r she is imaging abut the cat, like a black cat. Cntinue taking turns t add details t create a bigger picture, such as a black cat sitting n a chair. The bject is nt t tell a stry but t share what yu are seeing. Make sure everyne adds a detail t the picture. Give kids an pprtunity t discuss hw their riginal mental picture changed as the grup added details. 2. Ask kids t write n the index cards ne activity they did t get ready t cme t church tday. Fr example: brush teeth, get dressed, eat breakfast, etc. Let kids share their examples with the grup and wrk tgether t place the cards in chrnlgical rder, creating a timeline. If necessary, create additinal index cards t fill in the gaps in the timeline. Select ne f the activities n the timeline. As a grup, brainstrm the grup f peple necessary fr making the activity happen. Fr example, where did yu get the fd fr breakfast: smene bught the fd, the emplyees at the stre r market sld the fd t yur parents, the farmers grew the fd, etc. Encurage kids t write n the index cards wh wrked tgether t accmplish the activity. If time allws, repeat creating lists f peple fr several f the activities in the timeline. Emphasize that peple wrk tgether mre than we realize. Discuss: What if yu didn t have a grup f peple and yu had t d everything yurself? What wuld it lk like t get fd fr breakfast? Or what wuld yu have t d t get clthes t wear? Bible Stry Extensin [Talk abut Gd Bible Stry Review Applicatin Activity] Made t Cnnect: an activity that invites kids t share with thers and build n their understanding What Yu Need: Large sheet f butcher paper, markers, Bibles, tape Place a sheet f butcher paper n a flat surface r tape it t a wall. On the paper, write the heading, TABERNACLE. What is a tabernacle? (A huge prtable tent that culd be taken dwn and set up as the Israelites mved frm place t place) Why was the tabernacle built? (Exdus 25:8 S Gd culd cme and live with them; it was a place set apart fr Gd t meet with His peple.) Explain that infrmatin abut the tabernacle is fund in the bk f Exdus. Write Exdus 31:1-11 and Exdus 35:21, 25, 34 under Tabernacle n the butcher paper. Encurage kids t wrk tgether t lk up the Bible verses and identify the peple and skills required t build the tabernacle. As they identify peple and skills, instruct them t write their answers n the butcher paper under the Tabernacle heading. Encurage kids t wrk tgether t find the mnthly memry verse, Ecclesiastes 4:9. Read the verse tgether. Give each kid a balln. What abut ur time tgether tday? Wh wrked tgether t put tgether the Large Grup time and ur activities in Small Grup fr us tday? As kids give answers, instruct them t write ne answer n the balln. Each balln shuld represent a persn necessary t create tday s prgram. Examples culd include: Large Grup Cmmunicatr, Hst nstage, Small Grup Leader, tech persn, cleaning crew, Wrship Leader, welcme team, etc. Tell kids t blw up their ballns. Instruct kids t stand up, tss their ballns in the air, and wrk t keep them in the air. Next, give all the ballns t ne kid and ask him t keep all f them in the air at the same time. Allw ther kids t take turns trying t keep all the ballns in the air n their wn as time allws. When finished, ask kids t cmpare keeping the ballns in the air tgether versus individually. Make it Persnal with Prayer [Pray t Gd Prayer Activity] Made t Reflect: an activity that creates space fr persnal understanding and applicatin What Yu Need: Ballns frm the Verse t Take with Yu Activity Gather kids in a circle. Instruct kids t select a balln. Ask each kid t pray a shrt prayer thanking Gd fr the persn n his r her balln. Encurage them t include in their prayers why they are thankful fr the persn. Fr example, if yur balln says Wrship Leader, yu might say, Thank Yu, Gd, fr ur wrship leader. I lve singing, and she selects great sngs fr us each week. Or if yur balln says cleaning crew, yu might pray, Thank yu, Gd, fr ur cleaning staff. It is s nice t cme t a clean space and nt have t wrry abut sitting in gum. Clse in prayer.
