1 Missoula Laundry Soap Company Launches Crowdfunding Campaign to Tackle Single-Use Plastic Waste Problem On September 5, 2018, MIssoula based and family-owned KELIGREEN Laundry Soap will launch a Kickstarter campaign to bring eco-friendly laundry soap refill stations and a delivery service for businesses and homes to the Missoula area in an effort to reduce plastic pollution. The campaign launches amid growing activism against plastic waste, and surging demand for KELIGREEN products. The KELIGREEN line of products is biodegradable, free of synthetic fragrances, petroleum, all sodium laureth sulfates (SLS), is water-soluble, vegan, and family-friendly. KELIGREEN laundry soaps are currently available online and at various retailers in Montana, including a refill station already in place at Le Petit Outre Bakery on 4th St. The refill and home or business delivery service will eliminate the need to purchase additional plastic containers when consumers run out of product. I created this company because I had no other option. says Keli Lake, founder of KELIGREEN, My infant son was breaking out in rashes, and we finally realized it was from an ingredient found in almost all laundry soaps. I didn t have alternatives that would be better to his body, so I created one. The Kickstarter campaign will fund software and components for the Missoula area home and business delivery service, and establish drop-off points for product refills outside a 20-mile radius of the city. Interested commercial retailers in the Northwest will be provided with bulk bins so that customers can fill up without having to buy another container. I personally make the product, says Lake, and I want to have the means to bring it to my awesome customers without trashing the planet. Right now there are a few bulk refill stations at the stores carrying KELIGREEN, and I make refill runs on a regular basis. My bulk retailers are actually selling more product than retailers who sell individual bottles. This is evidence that we are not only doing the right thing for the planet, but delivering what our customers really want. It s time to drop the habit of buying container after container- let s just get more local and refill everything we can. Here s a start. People are

2 sick about the extreme amount of waste from consumerism. I m done talking about the problem, we are ready to act and need an investment from our community to get up and running. There s no telling how broad this could go, we d love to see refill stations in cities and towns all over the Pacific Northwest. The refill practice is born from Lake s goal to cut down single-use plastic. As demand for her product has grown, she has seen the underbelly of the supply chain, and as Missoula s recycling options narrow, she has decided to eliminate single-use plastic from her business model. Rather than taking the quick route to heavy distribution or selling the company, Lake is choosing to take the longer route of fixing a broken system. Lake reflects We obviously can t continue this way. This is the time to make change, and all I can do is start with myself. Plastic waste has been on the radar for years with environmentalists, but the reality of the extent of the problem came crashing down on Lake as she went through the process to become an Amazon seller. The process of distribution was so plastic heavy, I knew there had to be another way. she shares Not only can I do my part to reduce plastic pollution, but it also cuts the end-cost to the consumer. The KELIGREEN family will launch a Kickstarter campaign on Wednesday, September 5, with an event at The Roxy Theater. Attendees will be able to meet the KELIGREEN team, learn about the products and proposed offerings, donate to the campaign, and spread the word about the refill revolution. Tickets are available at The Kickstarter campaign will run through November 19th, allowing any supporter, current customer, or the curious to learn more and be part of the #refillrevolution.
