1 SITUATION The G.V. Barbee Bridge will be closing to traffic for bridge preservation work the second week of October 2018 to late-april This closing will redirect an average of 12,000 vehicles per day impacting the purchasing habits of the consumers in our area. Our small businesses must change or increase their current marketing efforts to remain viable. It is the goal of the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce to provide our business community: 1. Marketing & Advertising opportunities with a clear, concise and collective message to help reduce local expenditure leakage. 2. Offer businesses opportunities for planning, education and training. 3. Continue open communications with NCDOT. The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit membership organization. We recognize these are trying times and because of that we are opening up some of our efforts to include non-members. While most activities will be open to non-members there may be a difference in participation fee because membership does have benefits and those member businesses are already contributing to these efforts. ELECTRONIC NEWS -ITS WORTH THE DRIVE GO LOCAL Monthly to over 2,000 residents with "It's Worth the Drive -Go Local" specials submitted by the business community. This benefit is open to members & co-op advertisers at no charge and non members $25 per month. submissions only. Submit by 25th of each month to events@southport-oakisland.com Title your " Worth The Drive".

2 FACEBOOK PAGE - ITSWORTHTHEDRIVEGOLOCAL Post Your Specials Post Your Customers Purchases Tag ItsWorthTheDriveGoLocal from your own Facebook Page Tag the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce Instagram Page This benefit is open to members and non-members at no charge. CHAMBER ACTIVITIES ON FACEBOOK Weekly Facebook Live Video similar to carpool Karaoke but called "Go Local Carpool" We will choose a local public official or organization to ride along and discuss their program/town/organization as we drive to a local shop or restaurant. This benefit is open to members and co-op advertisers. A drawing will be held to determine the shop or restaurant. Weekly Facebook Live talking about It's Worth The Drive - Go Local and the benefits to local residents for shopping/dining/using local businesses. Monthly Electronic News will be posted on the Chamber's Main Facebook Page and the It's Worth The Drive Go Local Facebook Page.

3 CO-OP ADVERTISING PROGRAM It's Worth the Drive Go Local Co-Op Advertising Program. Limited to 16 businesses. Open to members and non-members. The Chamber has negotiated special rates for this 7 month ad run. Each participating business must agree to a GO LOCAL DISCOUNT - $5.00 off a $25 purchase. Go Local Co-op Ad will run from October 2018 thru April 2019: The State Port Pilot - Bi-Monthly Southport Magazine - Monthly St. James Living - Monthly Brunswick Marketplace - Monthly Val-Pak - Monthly Co-Op Pre-Paid Investment: $1,075 ($154 per monrth) Members $1,200 ($171 per month) Non Members Agree to honor the GO LOCAL DISCOUNT for the 7 months. 4 LOYALTY CARD - IT'S WORTH THE DRIVE It's Worth the Drive -Go Local Loyalty Card will be distributed at the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce. Residents will submit receipts each month from any 10 businesses in Southport, Oak Island and/or businesses outside Southport-Oak Island who are members of the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce. For every 10 business receipts, they will be entered into a drawing for that month's $100 giveaway. If the businesses they visit are all Chamber members they will get an extra entry into that month's drawing. The drawings will be held monthly from October 2018 thru April A Go Local Loyalty Card will be printed so that residents will not need to complete the registration form every time they enter. If you would like to sponsor the card and have your logo placed on the card, please let us know. The sponsorship cost is $500 and is limited to two businesses. EXISTING EVENTS There are several Chamber events that are open to members and non-members which will help you drive customers to your business. Consider participating in the Southport-Oak Island Restaurant Week - October 15th-21st; Christmas Gift Show - November 18th; Christmas by the Sea Parade on Oak Island - December 1st; Coastal Consumer Showcase - March and/or the Oak Island Lighthouse Run - April 13th.

Disaster Planning isn t just for natural made events, it can include events such as the temporary closing of the G.V. Barbee Bridge to Oak Island for renovations. Topics that will be discussed in the two hours: Modify marketing & sales strategies, financing opportunities, employee reduction & unemployment rates and insurance. An event of the NC Rural Center, BCC Small Business Center, Thread Capital and Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce. CUSTOMER SERVICE, CREATING CUSTOMER LOYALTY AND DATA COLLECTING July 6:00 pm - Jeanne Eury, NC Retail Merchants Association. We will discuss the small additions to customer service that make huge impacts on customer loyalty, and ways to add more value to your customer s experience without spending any more money. We will also make sure you have an Marketing System in place, are collecting contact info on everyone and analyzing your campaign results. Lastly we ll do a quick review of all of your data (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.) and learn how to read the reports to gain the best understanding of your customer journey.
