1 THE FAANG STOCKS...THAT YOU HAD TO HAVE...MAYBE NOT? Facebook Inc. (FB) $ Apple Inc. (AAPL) $ Amazon Inc. (AMZN) $ Netflix (NFLX) $ Google (Alphabet Inc.) (GOOG) $ Facebook Apple Owie! They are not exactly Stocks for Seniors and as we seem to be spending ever more time looking for something safe, so us older chaps can maintain what we have and to heck with taking high risks to make an extra buck...we still had to watch the FAANG stocks that were forever talked about on American financial networks, financial literature, Bloomberg, you-name-it...faang was there! And you had to be there! Well after the destruction in the NASDAQ Index, one look at the charts tells you that maybe you didn't have to be! It's amazing how quickly the young can taste change in websites and all of a sudden, it seems to be only us old farts using that network, while the youngsters have switched to new services. Our own daughter informs us that it's only the geriatrics on Facebook now...the young, with-it crowd have discovered SnapChat. dave.pescod@plant4seeds.com debbie.lewis@plant4seeds.com 1

2 Amazon Netflix Still a rich valuation? Google Looks like an oil & gas stock Meanwhile, look at the destruction on Facebook's stock. Is that an owie or what? Netflix is another one that has been clobbered and maybe it deserves to. Even after it has fallen off $100 - $120 a share, it still trades at a P/E ratio of over 100:1 and has no dividend at all in payment. Apple has just announced some trouble with sales of some of their latest devices and some of their suppliers in Asia have been absolutely brutalized. Alphabet (Google) seems to be heading the same way and take a look at Amazon...now is that a correction or what? One still has the feeling that down the road, Amazon is such as useful service...why having to go to the store, struggle with parking, paying for parking, getting to the store when you can simply shop on line. One wonders where Amazon will be five years from now as we do remember that when the high-tech bubble started back in , Amazon was one of the survivors and if you had held nothing but that one stock for the last 20 years, what a reward! 3 Natural Gas $ Now this could be significant... An interesting article out in the Vancouver Sun yesterday as they talk about the natural gas shortage that BC could experience this winter. They write, "British Columbians are heeding the call to conserve natural gas, but it might not be enough, says Fortis B.C. The company has been looking at a variety of options to increase its stock of natural gas since an explosion at an Enbridge gas pipeline in October near Prince George temporarily stopped the flow of gas. Since the pipeline was repaired at the start of November, Enbridge has been willing to push only a reduced amount of fuel through it." Which once again, reminds us, that without pipelines and possibly extra supply of pipelines to make sure people do get supplies of gas in winter, there might be problems. The suggestion is that some people might do without gas this winter. Maybe they should cut off the "Goobers" (those people that seem to be opposing anything to do with the pipeline). See how much they enjoy that. Stick a windmill in their backyard! Talk about volatile! dave.pescod@plant4seeds.com debbie.lewis@plant4seeds.com 3

4 Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PCG) $ In the world of business, sometimes disastrous events happen that affect the business, the future of the business and most importantly, innocent people around. The stock of PG&E Corporation, one of the biggest utilities in Source of a devastating fire? the United States is being rocked over the last few days and it is now being b e l i e v e d t h a t P G & E Equipment that failed and caused an electrical spark, may have been what started one of the huge fires going on in California. An article in Market Watch suggests that the parent of PG&E has about 16 million customers in California and their insurance for fires goes no where near covering the estimated $13 billion in damage...and the fire is still going. A horrid experience with some 7000 houses estimated now burnt between the three fires, over 50 dead and over 100 missing. dave.pescod@plant4seeds.com debbie.lewis@plant4seeds.com 4

5 THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! We certainly appreciate the feedback that we received so far from our first big question of the day...are you a Trudeau fan? We will have some statistics on that shortly, and ultimately our IT guy will have us up and running so that you can see your comments posted and others as well as we try and tackle some of the interesting debates of the day, particularly those concerning the markets. Meanwhile, we need some help on some other areas: 1. If you've got a question for a stock in particular, it in to us so we can ask a company spokesperson, or an analyst following the story for their thoughts and insight into that particular company. 2. Are there topics that get you really upset that you would like to see a debate started here as well? Send it on in - Debbie is more than excited to find something that gets a person going, posted here so we can have a good look/see at whatever the topic might be. 3. Any suggestions on what we should be doing more of or less of is always appreciated.
