1 Purpose: You have come up with your business idea, but what next? Ask any small business owner what the hardest aspects of running a company are, and you ll likely get a wide range of answers. Some people aren t good at money matters, for example, while others don t know how to delegate. But just about every business owner has, at one time or another, experienced all of the numerous challenges of running a small business. In your established business partnership, you will be completing the following activities that represent some of the harder aspects of running a business. Theses aspects are hiring workers, advertising knowledge and advertising costs. Job Descriptions: Feeling comfortable enough to delegate requires hiring the right staff for your business. Smart, dedicated workers are what every business needs, but the time and expense involved in the hiring process can be daunting. Even when you recruit the right people, there s still the challenge of effective leadership. As an employer, you must be able to motivate others, resolve conflicts, delegate efficiently, and stay on top of the messy details involved in working with others. Newspaper Advertisement: Newspapers are a time-honored place for traditional advertising, still effective in the 21st century. Creating advertisements for newspapers requires a different set of tactics than other traditional media, such as television and magazines. Newspapers present unique benefits and drawbacks to advertisers from the relatively limited creative options newspaper ads provide. Post Card Advertisement: Postcards are a simple, low-cost sales tool that s easier to use than ever thanks to websites that offer turnkey postcard marketing services. These princely printed pieces pack a powerful punch for millions of small and local businesses. Even big companies and major universities are using colorful and often over-sized postcards to push their products, services, offers and brands. The lowly postcard has taken on new prominence as a kind of anti-digital agent. People are paying more attention than ever to postcards they receive in the mail, and are responding to offers at high rates. Postcards have a higher read rate than other direct mail because they are easier to read at a glance and there s no envelope to open. Brochure Advertisement: Marketing brochures are among the most versatile tools you can use to inform customers of your products or services. Retail stores and offices that experience a lot of customer traffic often have brochures with product information at the front of the store or in the waiting room. Banks, for instance, create brochures on each category of financial product for customers to review as they wait in the lobby. Marketers also take brochures to trade shows and presentations to hand out to potential customers or business associates.
