3 3 The following are some suggestions to help you with your research: 1) Brooklyn Public Library Go to On the top of the page you ll see a horizontal bar, move your mouse on Business resources where a drop-down menu will appear. Click on the first item on the menu, e-resources, and a list of databases will appear. The database that will be most beneficial to you is Business Source Premier. NOTE: In order to use this database you will need a Brooklyn Public Library card, which you can get at any Brooklyn Public Library. When you log into the database you will be asked to enter a barcode, which is the series of numbers that appear on the back of your library card. 2) CUNY Plus Database This database is available in Kingsborough s library. For instructions on how to use this library go to the reference desk and ask any librarian who will be glad to help you. 3) CUNY Internet Library go to Click on E-Journals & Reference Databases at the top right half of the page. You ll see a list of databases. The database that will be most beneficial to you is EBSCO. On the right you ll see two boxes, one yellow and one green. If you do your research at the school library click on the yellow box. If you conduct your research from home, click on the green box, where you will be prompted to enter your social security number. You ll be directed to a page listing several databases. The database that will be most beneficial to you is Business Source Premier. 4) Kingsborough Library - If you still need assistance, ask one of the librarians for additional suggestions.

4 PROJECT SCHEDULE 1 st Friday: Introductory Meeting ASAP: SEND AN WITH YOUR ADDRESS TO fmayerson@kingsborough.edu Please include BA81 in subject. 1st Tuesday: 1 Sample Article Due - this includes your 1-2 page commentary as described in class, to be hand delivered to Dr. Mayerson at 10:20AM in Room M358, or ed to fmayerson@kingsborough.edu. Approval will follow within 72 hours by . 10th Thursday PROJECT DUE (Must be hand delivered to Dr. Mayerson at 10:20AM in Room M358.) Important note on grading policy: If the project is received between the 10 th & 11 th Thursday, a one-letter grade reduction will be implemented. If the project is received between the 1th & 12 th Thursday s, a two-letter grade reduction is enforced. If the project is not received by the 112th Thursday an incomplete grade (I) will be assigned and the student must make an appointment with the professor. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS Each student is required to make an additional photocopy of the entire project submitted. If another copy is requested you MUST be able to submit it. Failure to do so may require you to do your project again! The bibliography has to be structured according to the attached format. Deviation from this format will not be accepted. The student will be required to select 15 articles on the chosen topic. Each must be between 3 and 7 pages and must originate from one of the approved journals or

5 periodicals. No article may be more than three years old. A photocopy of the article must be submitted as part of the final project document. I would recommend that you use CUNY or NYPL online sources to search for digitized or scanned articles (i.e. Adobe Acrobat PDF files). A PDF file will produce a photocopy of the article and must also be included. Plain text documents will be rejected. Please ask a Kingsborough research librarian for help with the CUNY online resource center if necessary. Commentary provided for each article must be in the following format: A. A one or two page written report on each article including a detailed summary (first half). The printed document should be right- and leftjustified, double spaced, with 1 1/4 inch margins, and using a 12 pt. font. And, B. The implications of the article (second half) for any or all of the following: 1. the specific company or organization 2. the industry 3. the local economy 4. the national economy 5. the global economy
