No More Data Migrations, No Planned Downtime Only Pure Storage FlashArray is engineered for Evergreen, which means that your migration to Pure will be the last data migration you will need to do. The FlashArray//X can perform non-disruptive upgrades of any part of the array with no downtime or performance impact, no re-buy of TBs, and no data migrations - (i.e., upgrade with data in place). And our upgrades do NOT require any planned downtime. As a result, an increasing number of Pure customers are performing regular maintenance and upgrades during production hours with the confidence that there will not be an impact to performance, or risk to data availability. We all know that legacy data migrations are risky and costly performed outside business hours or weekends. While Dell EMC offers its Never Worry Migrations through its Future-Proof Loyalty Program, in contrast the FlashArray//X eliminates forklift migrations altogether which in turn eliminates the risk and cost associated with legacy migrations. Engineered for NVMe The FlashArray//X was engineered specifically for NVMe flash and Evergreen. The majority of Dell EMC s portfolio were designed originally for magnetic hard disk drives, in some cases retrofitted with flash. Pure s FlashArray//X family does not have the legacy of supporting disk drives. Rather than using commercial NVMe SSDs that require garbage collection and a flash translation layer on every SSD, our DirectFlash Modules (DFM) allow us to address the NVMe flash directly. The result is that fewer CPU cycles are consumed per IO, which becomes significant with the high IOPS of SSDs. Finally, multiple queues connect the native parallelism of NVMe flash with modern multicore CPUs making Pure s NVMe enabled solutions not only fast, but extremely efficient for demanding applications. We further extend the capabilities and capacities with our DirectFlash shelf, which allows FlashArray//X to grow capacity beyond a single chassis with additional NVMe DFMs. With our new FlashArray//X90 and a single DirectFlash shelf, assuming 5:1 average data reduction, we can squeeze 3PB of data into 6U. 6. In contrast, setting up ActiveCluster requires only 4 steps (not hundreds of pages of manuals as in the case of Dell s offerings), and no professional services.
