2 ABOUT THE PROGRAMME WHY BUSINESS ANALYTICS? Every organization is exposed to veritable, varied and voluminous amount of data through their business transaction, social exchanges etc., However, use of data to capture what is important to business or research is the key point. Deciphering the data, uncovering hidden patterns and transforming them into useful information for decision making are the essence of business analytics (BA). It is not just the buzzword, it is a reality. According to a survey by Bloomberg Business Week Research services, 97% of companies with revenues of more than 1000 crores are using some form of BA, three of four enterprises have been effective in increased profitability, reduced cost, improved risk management, process optimization, faster decision-making or critical performance improvements. Organizations that reaped high benefits from BA are upping the use nearly four times the rate of other companies in all functional areas that require analysis, prediction, segmentation and classification.
