SHOW THE WORLD YOU ARE THE FUTURE Living Tomorrow in Brussels is a world-unique demonstration and marketing platform for innovation and a symbol of innovative entrepreneurship. Together with our partners, we exchange new ideas and visions in visionary groups. Each visionary group focusses on one particular theme. By putting each theme in an broader context and in contact with eachother, we gain extraordinary insights.

p r o j e c t Q uality Restaurants f u r n i t u r e FUTURE OF HORECA What will the future hotel and catering industry look like? What are the new techniques, standards and insights we can expect? How should the owners of these establishments respond to new regulations and ever-changing consumer trends? In the Future of Horeca visionary group, professionals in the field, captains of industry and policy makers exchange ideas and develop creative solutions for the challenges which the horeca sector will be facing in coming years. Via this platform, we aim to inform, inspire and create awareness among players in the horeca sector. Our partners share our vision of the future through training courses, events, off-campus pop-ups and, above all, The Bistronomy. This restaurant of the future is where we present (usually on a plate) the results of this visionary group. HORECA OF THE FUTURE A Digital Wizards Wij brengen magie in uw zaak! 4 FUTURE OF HEALTH & CARE Our society is aging rapidly. How can new technologies, products and services anticipate this and improve the quality of life of the elderly? What is the role of the internet of things in achieving this? Will smart devices and the ever-faster exchange of information lead to better and more personalised healthcare solutions? Within the Future of Health & Care visionary group, partners develop ideas on how to enhance their innovative solutions and make them more future-proof. HEALTH & CARE OF THE FUTURE A

FUTURE OF RETAIL Developments in retail are coming at a fast pace. The significant rise in online shopping increases pressure on physical stores. The internet has made consumers more knowledgeable and more demanding. How can retailers cope with this trend? At the same time, e-commerce still has a long way to go. How can the online shopping experience be optimised? Partners within the Future Retail visionary group are pondering how brick and mortar stores will position themselves in the future retail landscape. How can they offer customers a unique experience? And what about integrating online tools, apps, social media and new payment methods? Will these help bridge the gap between online and offline shopping? Experiences and opinions are discussed and exchanged on all these topics and more. RETAIL OF THE FUTURE A

SMART CITIES It is estimated that by 2050, 66% of the world s population will be living in urban areas. How do we keep our cities liveable? The answer is simple: by making them smarter and more sustainable. Mobility will play a key role in this process. Public transport systems with customised waiting facilities, hybrid vehicles and self-driving cars, smart roads and innovative street lighting. Plenty of concepts to think about. Within the Smart Cities visionary group, various partners aim to create a broader perspective on the future of our cities. Digital technologies and energy-efficient solutions with a focus on safety. No idea is left unturned. Discover the results at our demo location. SMART CITIES

FUTURE AGRICULTURE & FOOD The biggest challenge for the agricultural and horticultural industries is the ever-growing population. By the year 2050, the global population is expected to reach 9 billion. Farmers of the future will have to learn to grow more with less, while climate changes force us to use natural resources such as water, raw materials and energy much more efficiently. The Future Agriculture & Food visionary group helps us develop a broad perspective on the future of agriculture and promotes new thought patterns. Want to find out how we do this? Visit our Smart Farm to learn more about the latest innovations some of which are already reaping rewards. AGRICULTURE OF THE FUTURE

FUTURE OF PAYMENTS The payments industry is facing unprecedented growth, rapid technological advancements, and a flood of new entrants into the market. Questions abound as to how all of the stakeholders will work together, which products will be welcomed by consumers and retailers, best practices for managing privacy and data security risks, and how federal and state regulatory frameworks will be applied to emerging payment systems. While many of these new payment products have the potential to become attractive revenue streams, they are also fraught with uncertainties relating to regulatory, compliance, security, and business issues. The burning question of the moment is: what is the future of payments? Last year we saw non-cash transactions (almost) overtake cash payments for the first time, but does this mean cash is on its way out? And how about alternative payments such as Bitcoin? What will be the impact of the new PSD rulings (PSD2) for banks, merchants and consumers? This visionary group hopes to find the answers to these and other questions. FUTURE OF PAYMENTS

FUTURE OF SPORTS What will sports be like in the future? Will it still involve playing and competing with other people? What about e-sports? How will we experience sports as spectators? What is doping? What does the infrastructure look like? What kinds of new business models will emerge? What role does a coach play today? Do we do sports at work, at school? The potential offered by new technologies and business models in sports appeals to the imagination. But how do we make the right choices? What should we focus on today? In the future of sports vision group, we bring together athletes, policymakers and business leaders from various sectors to build a memory for the future of sports. That memory is shaped by input via training, knowledge sharing and events, and strengthened through workshops, roundtable discussions, strategic conversations, etc. That knowledge will result in demos and pilot projects both within Living Tomorrow and on the field.
