2 History and goals of the project As any Consumer Packaged Goods leader, Unilever faces 3 major challenges: Understand consumer needs without their own websites to generate data on buyer personas, as opposed to retailers, Engage with their customers to retain them and attract new ones, Reduce the ever soaring market research costs. To take up those 3 challenges, the group has chosen Braineet. The project was managed and overseen by each of the individual brands participating in the program. The Unilever Group launched 18 challenges relating to specific areas of concern: product, taste, packaging, experience, new target, communication, emotion, and corporate responsibility. The ideas gathered enable Unilever s team to identify the real expectations of their consumers, to break them down into groups, and to incorporate them into their strategy for the years to come and upcoming innovation strategy. In addition to helping them to improve their products, it also creates a positive e-reputation on social networks. Some of them will allow the brands to generate additional revenue on existing products, other ideas point at emerging consumer demands, and still others are the source of optimized new product developments and launches
