2 Smart transportation for smart cities Travelers are getting smarter, and so are the cities where they live. Transportation is catching up. New solutions help travelers see beyond walls and borders, finding ways to reach their destination and fulfill their expectations with a mere glance at their smartphone screen. Solutions like SiMobility Flow. Increase customer satisfaction Lost in mobility jungle SiMobility Flow Confident passengers SiMobility Flow really shines once a journey begins: The smartphone app detects nearby Bluetooth transmitters, so-called beacons. When travelers stay near the transmitter, companies can send push messages via the mobile app. With Flow, travelers benefit from information related to start and destination as well as from location-based content along the way, may be in vehicles, at the station or throughout the city. Other perks during the journey include a display of timetable updates in real-time. The incorporation of mobile payment enables easy ticketing with innovative tools like Check-in / Check-out (CiCo). It enables travelers to check in for the journey with a simple click on their smartphone screen, and check out with another click upon arriving at their destination. The ticket price is then calculated based on this data. Once on board, the traveler can activate station announcements for stops and transfers. A Flow-based app can also be used to demand for stops, if the bus is configured accordingly. On transfer, travelers can ask for guidance via remote-control through the station to get a connection. When boarding or leaving, acoustical door signaling helps people with special needs to find exits and entrances or to avoid stairs. Messages can be conveyed supported by maps, speech, and acoustical signals. Questionnaires and poll functions enable passengers to provide feedback directly to operators.

3 How it really works: SiMobility Flow Join us on a journey to explore how SiMobility can be used in a real-world setting. Our protagonist Tom has just arrived with his wife and his two kids at the train station. He isn t sure whether their train is on time and from what platform it will be departing. SiMobility Flow not only keeps his family informed of delays and possible changes in real-time it also guides him to where his family need to go via maps, voice messages, or sound alerts. If there are delays, SiMobility Flow automatically sends coupons for local retailers, allowing the family to make the most of any waiting period. While his wife and his kids use such a coupon for a drink in an in-station restaurant, Tom checks out other points of interest and relevant information for the family s journey. In addition to SiMobility Flow as personal guide, Tom also benefits from the application s seamless integration into the larger SiMobility platform, pulling both Connect and JustGo into the equation for a wellpriced journey and hands-free ticketing once the family boards the train.
