1 American Academy of Innovaon MS Office/Cloud Compung Today, people need keyboarding skills more than ever since each of us are composing at the computer, sending e mails, and surfing on the Internet. The proper "touch system" of keyboarding is most important since it determines our speed and accuracy. The alphabec keys, numeric keys, special character keys, and numeric keypad are important keys to know since more of them are now used on computers today. Learning the skill of knowing which fingers control which keys is a skill desired by many just so they can input informaon into the computer faster and more accurately. Knowing how to properly format a memo or e mail, leᘀer, manuscript or report, and tle page are worthwhile skills to acquire since these are frequent documents produced in today's world. Addionally, there will also be an introducon to the Microso products of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The students will increase their knowledge of these products through building projects to highlight their understanding of the products. Develop understanding of the need of keyboarding skills, and explore careers associated with keyboarding. To develop a basic to intermediate knowledge of MS Office and other Cloud Compung so ware that is necessary in the professional world. 2 College & Career Awareness Fall 2016/Spring 2017 Semester 1,2 College and Career Awareness is a seventh grade core course that is designed to help students identify their interests, abilities, and skills. Through applicationbased lessons, College and Career Awareness allows students to utilize technology, develop foundational skills, and explore careers. The course explores the following content areas; agriculture, business & marketing, family & consumer science, health science, information technology, engineering & skilled/technical trades. The student will develop and apply concepts related to human relations, safety, career development, communications, and leadership skills for a global workplace. These standards will coincide with state requirements, some subject matters may change based upon state standards. This is also an introductory class to the possible occupations found in the given areas of study. Due to the nature of the course, not all occupations will be discussed, but this course will provide students with an introduction to work with the school counselor to find additional classes throughout the students educational process to continue to develop the students interest and passions. 3 Business Management Core Students in Business Management will develop a foundation in the many activities, problems, and decisions that are intrinsic to the management of a successful business, as well as an appreciation for the importance of these responsibilities. Areas to be examined include business organization, ethical and legal responsibilities, communication, decision-making, personnel, safety, professional development and related careers. By gaining an understanding of these areas, students will be better prepared to enhance the business decisions of tomorrow. 4 Economics This course focuses on the study of economic problems and the methods by which societies solve them. Characteristics of the market economy of the United States and its function in the world and methods of applying economics to one s life will be explored. Students will understand the economic conditions existing within a capitalistic society based upon a market economy and how the free enterprise system can succeed or fail based upon consumer and supplier relationships through economic principles. To be better prepared to enter the economic society of the US and understanding the implications of government and how these can affect the everyday lives of its societal members. 5 Retail Store Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 This course will uncover the makings of retail businesses including accounting, marketing and management styles associated with retail businesses. Ultimately, the students will function as store managers for the AAI Store. You will be responsible for all operations of the store, including product development, promotion and distribution of goods, pricing and inventory control functions. As with any business, the success of the store will depend upon the interest and work of the students to properly supervise, keep merchandise on hand, and adhere to store operating procedures. Properly run, the school store will prosper and will make money. Improperly run, it will do what any other business will do FAIL! Retailing is a program that will prepare the student to operate businesses that sell, rent, or lease goods and services. This course objective will better provide insight into the theory behind buying, storing, pricing, advertising, display, selling, financing, and other activities necessary for successful business operations.
