3 Match and rles Each match lasts abut 60 minutes, with the fllwing slts: 10 minutes detailed intrductin f the issue by the referee 30 minutes (15 min. fr each player) players, by turns, deal with the issue prpsed by referee answering the questin Hw yur Science culd help n it? 15 minutes the referee leads the debate t the cnclusin and the players, prfiting n the cntributin f the ther turnament players, culd add clarificatins and/r justificatins t wn thesis. 5 minutes the referee summarizes the prpsed thesis and with the help f ther referees assigns the try (t the mst persuasive team r t bth teams in case f parity). 3

5 RPAS and the identified issue RPAS insertin in nn-segregated airspace is a cmmunity key but, a number f barriers are t be vercme (EC RPAS radmap) regulatins, that need t mdified and cmplemented peratinal aspects, in nrmal and emergency cnditins are needed fr technlgical gaps, t be cvered t acquire the necessary capability t fly cmplementary measures, t manage thse liability and insurance aspects regulatin and human integratin are key-aspects that if nt well addressed can be a shwstpper t reach their insertin gal 5

Try, as much as pssible, t identify the main differences amng cnventinal and RPAS that requires T be addressed and fr which the players scientific dmain can prvide an apprach t answer 8

Fr RPAS culd regulatin be: rule f air in nn segregated airspace; special rule fr special new airspace classes; design standards and certificatin rules; pilt license; peratr license; manufacturer rganizatin authrizatin; service prvider qualificatin; peratinal prcedures in nminal and emergency cnditins. regulatin is wide Are the existing regulatin applicable t RPAS? The aircraft will wrk n crrupted data The crrupted results will be presented t the pilt and which are the cnsequences if the relevant functins are safety critical? frm an auxiliary system t a flight system need a shift n respnsibility e.g. Tday GPS is an auxiliary t the navigatin system, s a lw figure f merit (FOM) f GPS can be acceptable Tmrrw, satellite navigatin will becme the primary navigatins surce, signal degradatin is nt acceptable and then has t be managed 12

13 A pssible apprach Qualify the issues and its bundary: what s inside f the team cmpetencies/discipline and at which level e.g. natinal, Eurpean, internatinal Identify the prpsed apprach t slve the issue: the scpe is nt t identify slutins but t try t identify the interventins line that if implemented can slve the issue Identify if necessary the interfaces and dependencies with ther scientific dmains: e.g. in case sme pssible slutins can influence thers dmains and vice versa T identify pssible nging activities that culd be an answer t that issue 13
